question about windows explorer in on the taskbar

hi, new here,

i've changed my default location to "my computer" when i click on the windows exploere icon in the taskbar. i've found several different suggestions online on how to do this, mainly putting one of the following strings into the target box:

explorer.exe ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /root,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

i was using the first one and didn't like the behavior of it ( it would open "my computer" and then when i double clicked on either hard drive, it would open in a new window and maybe 1 out of 5 times it would open two seperate identical windows showing the contents of my hard drive.) then i found the other two strings online and they are different but behave the way i want them to. no new windows, everything opens in the same window, also not allowing for two identical windows to open at the same time. i haven't found where anyone else has ran into this and was just wondering what the difference is exactly in the three strings. i hope i've explained this well enough.

Hello Wes, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It's the command line switches ( /e - /root - etc) after explorer.exe that make the difference. You might also see how these work for you as well.
