I tried installing this game once and it ran in super low motion. I never received an error mesage or anything. I uninstalled it and revoked the activation from Rockstar so I could reinstall it.
Can someone help me install this so that it works properly? I will need step by step instructions because I am a major novice when it comes to these things.
Also, I heard I may need to update it once I install it? is that true? If so, how do I do that?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
SS

I installed Battlefield bad company 2 and it runs fine. Would it have updated direct x?

How do I find out what version of direct x I have installed?

Do yourself a favor and just update your DirectX files. Either one of these should work. The first one scans your system and installs what's needed. The second one is the entire package that needs to be extracted and downloaded.

Web Installer - Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) - Download details: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

And it's easier to just update as opposed to deciphering what files are updated.

Let me know.

I believe the directX releases are quarterly so a new release should be out soon since the last release was June

if you want to play those "older" games keeping directX up to date is an easy fix for many problems that can occur

There is no need to reinstall the game again! Just update the directx files, it's that simple.

I could be wrong but I believe the 1.0.7.0 patch removes the Social Club. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

No, the world doesn't end if you launch the game without installing either the patch or updating DirectX first :)

O.k. I just did all of these steps but in the process saw a couple of strange things. When I installed the game and it asked me to create a social club account and link it with windows live. When I tried it said thanks for linking your xbox account and said click here to log in and when I clicked on it it brought me to a "this page cannot be displayed screen". Then when I installed the patch it said that the social club is no longer needed to play the game so it set about unistalling all of it;s components but when I went to launch the game after it finsihed, a pop up came up and said I could sign into the social club or I could play offline. I tried to play offline without entering in my login and password and the little spinning cd poped up but the game never launched. I tried numerous combinations (logging in wtith and without un and passwords, no logging in, playing offline and playing online) to get it to launch but it never did. It's actually running worse now (not at all) than it was the first time.
