Trying to retrace stored TV

This happens very often. This talking about the recorded session that WMC creates all the time. IT does not happen in sessions that I have recorded.

As you watch TV, WMC records that show and in theory you can click back to a former spot and watch from there. But when I try this, or even sometimes just rewinding, I get a black screen, then sometimes the video with no sound. I have tried waiting, but at this stage the only way I have found to fix the problem is to Ctrl-Alt-Del then use task manager to kill WMC, then restart WMC to just watch TV, without losing the recorded previous TV time. Closing and reopening the WMC will lose the recorded TV stream.

I _think_ it is worse as more TV time is recorded in a session.

Is this just something I have to expect, or is there a way to overcome this? I use a board with an I7 Intel CPU and this does not support audio and video onboard, which means I have to have a separate soundcard, rather than onboard sound. I have an Auzentech x-plosion cinema. I connect to the TV via HDMI.

I have just tried VGA and it still happens. It also happens if I use the rewind to go back through the saved session.

I have also found that if I play a few seconds of a pre-recorded show, that fixes the problem when I go back to the current show, but the whole thing collapses again if I try to rewind on the current show.

So it seems to be something to do with WMC

Any advice appreciated. I just about have this system working, but it's fighting hard.

It creates a buffer, for a specified time, which vanishes when you change channels or switch off the tuner. You can increase the buffer time.

Nothing to lose here, as I have been been slighted for no real reason. I am not sure why you bothered replying.

Actually that does not even answer my question fool. The buffer should be shown as a strip that you can move back and forth on, just like a pre-recorded version. Staying within that green line should not cause trouble. If it does then it's a silly idea or a bug.

It is. I do it daily. Using the registry hack I linked gives me 2 hours of buffer unless I change channels or stop the tuner.

Since your description of your issue makes me think english is not your first language perhaps your version of Win7 has different settings for your region.

Regardless of what region you are in you also come off sounding like a whiny fool.
