Hallo,

I have two Acers computer. Just bought them one laptop one desktop...
Never got any windows 7 disks or accessoires with it. In the shop they told me this is normal acer. installation files are put on the harddrive. NICE ONE
BUT HOW CAN I FIND THEM?
WHAT IF I NEED TO REINSTALL OR REPAIR MY WINDOWS 7 COMPUTERS ?
HOW DO I TRIGGER THIS MENU?
Should i run the acer revory backup application to trigger these files from there?

Your help is greatly appreciated
Thank you very much

They are both right and wrong. Acer does not give out win 7 dvd's any more as part of their software reduction program. Instead they give a "restore" dvd which can be used to restore the factory settings if the restore partition is there.

They are usually in a separate partition (sometime D:\)
If you have the factory image on D:| you can use the dvd to trigger a "restore"

You first step should be to look/explore to see if the acer image and partition is there.

1) Acer computers that come with win7 pre-installed and pre-activated have a hidden recovery partition which can restore the computer to factory default condition. The way to access this partition is to use the erecovery management software that also comes loaded on the computer (look under acer empowering technology). This same software lets you create Recovery disks which are an alternative way of recovering the computer to original state.

OEMs no longer provide any kind of disks- neither pure OS, nor restore disks.

2) Heres a nice page with instuctions on how to go about it. But remember this is a generalized kind of page so the settings may vary a little bit depending on your model, but you'll get the idea.

ACER PC Restore to factory settings

3) Make sure you create the recovery disks ASAP and store them safely. Also, when you first launch erecovery, it'll ask you to create a password, keep that password safely. Acer will charge you a hefty amount if you forget the password. The last time I used an Acer, the default password used to be 0000 and I never changed it, though things may have changed now.

4) Dont try deleting the recovery partition. Its a good safety net.

Many tech enthusiasts find a clean-copy DVD of their OS version and reinstall using the OEM Product Key on the COA sticker on machine. Any installer can also have all versions unlocked using the ei.cfg removal tool. Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc - Create

Make your Recovery DIsks or save a Windows 7 backup image of the entire HD first so you have a path back to factory condition. Then wipe the HD of all code: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

The installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer or device. Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Install updates and then programs slowly over time to gauge performance after each. Don't let any programs write themselves into msconfig>Startup as they become freeloaders on your RAM/CPU and can spy on you. I only allow AV and gadgets. Troubleshooting with MSCONFIG

Use a lightweight free AV like MS Security Essentials which works perfectly with Windows 7 Firewall. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

When it is finished, clean and order the HD perfectly using state-of-the-art free CCleaner then Auslogics Disk and Registry defraggers monthly. http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

Then save a Windows 7 Backup image externally so you never have to reinstall again, just reimage the HD or replacement using DVD or Repair CD. Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

The Acer procedure is actually pretty simple:

1. Backup all your data
2. Restart your PC and press ALT+F10 when you get the first splash screen . That gets you to the installation wizard that will guide you.
