Water cooling pumps and setup

Hey all,

I am looking into water cooling (more seriously this time) but am unsure as to what kind of pump to get.
For instance, how much power does it need, gpm, flow rate, etc.

I know the dangerden pumps have been rated highly, but I don't know which one I would need.

I also wanted to check this: I don't need a reservoir, just a T-Line fill port right?

I'm running the swiftech mcp355 and have been for over 2 years, I did however add a xspc top to the pump. This pump replaced a Thermaltake p500 that was junk.
You will need a reservoir for water cooling.

Alright. So, I really like Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive, and was thinking of ordering everything but the pump from them.

Was thinking of these parts:
CPU-340 (CPU), [no nozzles] - Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive
Radiator, 3x120mm, Copper (High Flow) [no nozzles] - Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive
A 60mmx120mm (WxL) reservoir
10 feet of Tubing, Blue UV-Reactive PVC, 1ft/30.5cm [ID: 13mm (1/2"); OD: 16mm (5/8")] - Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive
And these fittings: Nozzle Pair, Compression [For ID: 13mm (1/2"), OD: 16mm (5/8")] - Water cooling systems, pc liquid cooling kit, cpu, video card, hard drive

I was thinking of the Danger Den Pump:
DD12V-D5 Pump Fixed Speed by Laing - Danger Den
With this fill port: Danger Den Fillport - Danger Den
Or the swiftech pump:

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
The radiator will have 6 fans, 3 push, 3 pull, mounted at the top of my case.

Either of those pumps will be fine...6 fans on the Rad is a bit overkill imo tho...last time I ran a W/C system I found just 3 fans to be quite sufficient but to each his own.

Yea 6 fans is a bit excessive. Like what Simmo said, 3 fans is enough really, in either a push or pull setup.

I only ordered 3 for now. 6 fans was straining my wallet.

I've seen those triple thick cores and it would seem that those could benefit from six fans but I tend to agree that for a single thickness three fans should suffice but for sure no harm other than a little more power draw would come from running it in a push/pull. Can't wait to see how your first water cool set up comes out. Are you just setting it up to cool the CPU and not the GPU?

Just the CPU for now. I will grab a GPU block at some point, but not until I am used to this setup.

Hey there,

As mentioned, 3 fans in push config works best.

Also, you might want to consider fitting a drain valve or quick disconnect in case you need to drain your system.

I made the noob mistake of not putting one in and got into all sorts of dramas.

I ended up having to have mine setup in pull because of the way I had to mount the radiator.

Also, draining it is annoying, but I don't need to do it often.
I have a disconnect point right where it's easy to get to for draining

Yea draining is a pain in the arse. Especially when you think you have it all out, and you move it and a load more flows out the radiator, lol.
