Radeon hd3650 to blame for BSODs/sketchy performance?

Just installed Radon HD 3650 - then did a clean install of windows 7 from XP. Unplugged all devices except logitech chordless keyboard/mouse (which windows recognizes as "usb-reciever").

After installing the OS, the system randomly restarted (no warnings, just an instant black screen, followed by reboot) 5, 10 sometimes 15 minutes after login. Since the issues appear Radeon related (I received a 4.7 for Gaming Graphics and a 4.8 for Graphics??), I turned off Aero, and have since had no restarts. But the performance still lags i think...

I do get a BSOD error message after crash and restart, but the one I just copied not notepad somehow dissappeared from desktop and now I'm not sure when it will crash next.

I have a feeling that there's a conflict with the integrated graphics - but Ive looked through the BIOS and can't figure out how to disable it =/

Anyways, hopefully the solution is right under my nose :)

ntkrnlpa.exe, Win32 error 0n2

Can't find anything to say exactly what is causing this.

Did you by any chance install CCCP? Uninstall it if so.

Also, make sure your LAN driver is most recent. And of course, video driver too.

Can't hurt to run from elevated command prompt:

sfc /scannow

if CCCP got installed, it's not showing up - I really think it's some sort of conflict with the integrated video - the new radeon hd3650 should be cooking up a storm in w7 right?

A 4.8 just doesn't make much sense. As for LAN & video drivers, what's the best/easiest way to make sure they're up-to-date other than going into the drivers panel and right-clicking for update??

The bios should disable it when a PCI-E video card is detected, but not always. Have you checked in the bios to see if there is a setting to disable it manually?

the new radeon hd3650 should be cooking up a storm in w7 right?

A 4.8 just doesn't make much sense.

Sounds about right for that card. That card is a low-end budget card, don't expect it to play much of any of the new games out at much more than a mix of low and medium (and more low than medium) settings.

if CCCP got installed, it's not showing up

The only way that should happen is if you unselected it while installed the catalyst Suite, or you just downloaded the standalone driver, or if you only installed whatever driver was offered through Windows Update.

As for LAN & video drivers, what's the best/easiest way to make sure they're up-to-date other than going into the drivers panel and right-clicking for update??

Please don't ever do that for a driver for a major piece of hardware, always go to the manufacturer's website. For your ATI card go here,

Drivers & Tools | GAME.AMD.COM

and just select the one for your OS (which gets updated once a month). For the LAN driver go to either MSI or if they don't have it go to Via Arena (same for the rest of any VIA drivers the board needs).

Haha when I said CCCP I meant the codec pack. Remove that if it's installed. I didn't mean the Catalyst Control (Center CCC).

The bios should disable it when a PCI-E video card is detected, but not always. Have you checked in the bios to see if there is a setting to disable it manually?

I've gone into the BIOS, but can't find a setting with a name that suggests integrated graphics. I've googled how to manually disable integrated G for my system but have yet to locate a simple to follow/clearly laid out tutorial :(

Sounds about right for that card. That card is a low-end budget card, don't expect it to play much of any of the new games out at much more than a mix of low and medium (and more low than medium) settings.

I'm not a gamer so 3d graphics don't matter in the least. I just want aero and firefox/chrome/fireworks/photoshop to rock. :)

When I bought it from a mall local shop (re: not bestbuy), the guy said that since I wouldn't be playing any games, the card should handle all aero, application, non-3d graphics like a champ, but perhaps he lied!!

The only way that should happen is if you unselected it while installed the catalyst Suite, or you just downloaded the standalone driver, or if you only installed whatever driver was offered through Windows Update.

lol, definitely didn't do a custom install - that is probably (hopefully) it!! Not at home, so can't check right now, but will later on this evening. :)

Please don't ever do that for a driver for a major piece of hardware, always go to the manufacturer's website. For your ATI card go here,

updating board drivers though is different than say sound right? In other words, is any fancy wizardry required?? If not, awesome... bc the MSI board probably hasn't been updated since purchase (re: > year)

Think I'll be good to go after this? Will w7 become more stable (re: be able to run aero mode instead of XP-style lol)

Thanks for the help btw

lastest BSOD minidump:

RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

This one is weird. It lets you log into your user account, but then tells you that a temporary user has been created and that nothing during the session will be saved. Makes me log out/restart then log back in again.

This is VEXING. I feel like windows beta7000 was so much better than the RC. Nothing but problems thus far :/

Sounds about right for that card. That card is a low-end budget card, don't expect it to play much of any of the new games out at much more than a mix of low and medium (and more low than medium) settings
HD3650 is a mid-range card, now a low-end card, and it can actually run crysis on very-high,

Hell, right now I'm playing RE5, and NFS:Shift on high settings with a smooth 30fps, its not as weak as people think.

I use a mobility radeon HD 3650 and i get 6.3 in both graphics and gaming graphics in the index =/
I'm not sure if it's related, but when I first installed the driver, the display always switched to a second display that was never connected (my main display was some other built-in thing or something). After a lot of trial and error, I found that the problem was my thinkpad's switchable graphics. I switched the display to the radeon in the bios and it works fine now.
I don't know if that helps or not, but I wish you good luck
