Outlook 2010 wont close completly

Hello

I recently upgraded to outlook 2010 from 2007 after i had the same problem.
everytime i close outlook , when i try to open it again i need to open task manager and force close OUTLOOK.EXE from there, if not when i click the outlook shortcut nothing happens.

any idea how to fix that?

As another Top Gear fan have you tried using the Office diagnostics tool and running it?

from what i can see, there is none at office 2010..

Hi, Stig (Mark)! Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Have you tried disabling any add-ons you might have in Outlook to see if the issue persists?





Disable them one by one until the issue goes away. We can trouble shoot from there.

I can only speak for Office 2007 but I can't believe that this feature would be removed in 2010. I find mine in the Office suite list of icon in the All Programs list for Office.

Neither do I see it in the list of applications in the Program files, Office14 folder:



Perhaps the application name is something not too evident in the Office14 folder? Kinda like "ScanPST.exe" which doesn't show up on the Start menu, All Programs list?

LOL! I doubt it. The reason for the change, or omission, I don't know. To be honest, I never even noticed it on Office 2007 but, then, I only used it for a few months before going to Office 2010.

May I ask you how you like 2010 from '07. I can't imagine that the changes are that dramatic?

I like it much better, linnemeyerhere, but then, I have to admit, I got used to the ribbon interface and wanted it in Outlook, as well (missing in 2007).

It's much more responsive and I like the 64 bit version which, as I recall, is not available in 2007.

Update..
After throughly looking for the diagnositc tools, i found out that for some unknown reason MS took it out from Office 2010 completly.
So ive disabled all the add ins like "Mikedl" said, and it worked!
after that i started adding the add-ins one by one to see which add-in is the problmatic one, and if found out it was Google Calender, fortunetly i dont really use it so i kept it disabled.
