Can't install Windows 7 on lenovo laptop

Hello, I have recently bought a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad Edge laptop with no OS and I am having a big problem installing Windows 7. When I start the laptop the windows boots and starts loading files but when the "Starting Windows" appears everything stops... I have waited for hours but no progress. I have tried it many times even from a USB flash drive but nothing. Please help me!

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to create a new Primary partition of about 100gb, then rightclick to Modify>Set as Active. See if it will install to that partition then. Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online

You can also create the partition and mark it Active using Diskpart from the Win7 Installation DVD Command Line. How to Boot to DISKPART at PC Startup

Type all of the commands below except Clean All if your HD is new and already clean:

If that fails check in BIOS setup that SATA controller is set to AHCI.

Check also that BIOS version is up to date. If so, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

hello guys me too facing same problem, i brought a new lenovo ideapad z460 3 days back till now i am unable to install any windows, when trying with win 7 during installation(almost near to completion) it gives this error "windows could not continue \windows\system32\config is corrupt and unreadable please run the chkdsk utility", or even if it completes the installation after restarting the screen becomes black nothing happens. i trying since three days......pulling off my hairs.... can anybody help me......as above mentioned i tried with AHCI but nothing worked....waiting eagerly for help......:huh:

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? If so, try burning another at 4x speed using Imgburn.

I have tried with all working dvd's(tested on desktop), and yes i have wiped out every thing in hd means deleted all partitions(i think i lost my one key recovery option because of this, i was not aware of this thing) and created again, one is primary and remaining two are logical. i will explain you the full story....

For the first time i opened the laptop inserted dvd for clean installation of windows 7 ultimate, while creating partition it got stuck so i restarted .........and what the same thing happened again....so i tried with win xp for creating partitions and i was successful now again i tried windows 7 and this time installation started and now either during installation i get above mentioned error or if installation completes and system gets restarted for finishing of installation....here the screen becomes black and nothing happens.

My configuration is :

Intel core i3 350M 2.27ghz
2GB RAM, 500GB HD

• Is there anything wrong with bios setting? (or)
• deleting and formatting the factory settled HD was the mistake?

how to find out that???? i dont know.... i guess its OEM because before partitioning for first time i saw one partition was something like Lenovo OEM

Do you have an Windows XP or Vista disc?
If so, install it to the point where you can partition the disc.
Partition the disc, then delete it.
Remove the disc, try re-booting from the Windows 7 disc.

i did that thing buddy.....using xp cd created partitions and booted with win 7 ......

You needed to make your Recovery disks before wiping the Recovery partition. If you failed to do this then you'll need to order Recov Disks if you ever want to return to factory condition, or find a retail Vista installer to reinstall with the Product Key on your COA sticker which you should back up to keep readable.

You have not wiped your HD if you only deleted partitions, repartitioned or formatted. You need to apply all zeroes to the HD using the tutorial linked SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Do you have the latest BIOS update posted on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer or mobo? If so, reset the CMOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm

Enter BIOS setup to make sure the SATA controller is set to AHCI mode, then IDE if necessary.

If install fails again, test your RAM with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes: http://www.memtest86.com/download.html

If you have any further questions, ask back. Otherwise confirm you have tried each step as listed, and if install continues to fail post back the exact error message text.
