Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is quite close to being released to manufacturing, reportedly. This piece of information comes from a third-party source, and was not confirmed by Microsoft in any way.

In fact, while it’s not 100% certain, it appears that Windows 7 SP1 could have already hit the RTM development milestone.


The Redmond company has been extremely quiet on the progress of the Windows 7 SP1 development process, and the evolution from Release Candidate to RTM makes no exception to this rule.

I'm still waiting to see a list of actual changes made, because there are a couple of regular updates that I have skipped, and don't want the SP if they are included.

Same here. I've deliberately not downloaded .NET Framework 4 through Windows Updates because right now I have no need for it. If it's going to be included in SP1 RTM there probably won't be any way to uninstall it. Or would there be a way to uninstall ANY included update if it's not wanted or needed?

Well if they're security updates then I say it sounds like you won't be getting it.

I can't see how Microsoft won't be including most if not all of those updates in the SP, especially if they came through Windows update as critical.

I've discussed that on the forum previously, and don't feel like rehashing it. Let it be sufficient to say that I don't want them.

The point is ...you might have a chance to see wds's improvement , more stable & more secured ...
OR ....you might have a chance to fix it "every geek likes to mess around" ..
cause Sp1 may do more harm than good for some pc .."I said for some pcs.."
The way i see it is ...nothing that i would complain about wds 7 right now ..

I get concerned when someone doesn't want updates that involve activation. It makes it sound as though there's shady stuff going on. I accept every single "Important" update and a vast majority of "Recommended" and "Optional" updates, and I've never had a single issue. When you start picking and choosing, you leave your system vulnerable and open the doors for problems down the road.

You can get as concerned as you wish, and it will change nothing. Especially when the basis of your reasoning is invalid and irrelevant.
