I recently changed to a new Modem/Wireless/Router (TP-Link TD-W8960N)
I installed it using my W7 laptop and fairly easily obtained a good service (wifi or ethernet).
I then found that my XP laptop would not connect to the Internet (or Mail) using wifi. (No problem when using Ethernet). It does get a good wifi connection to the router but every time I try to use the Internet; I get the familia message "cannot connect.......). Also, at the bottom of the desktop, a messsage will appear for about 20 seconds "Waiting for res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm".

I reported the problem to TP-link (email). They replied with a link to try a couple of things to fix it. Neither worked. I have reported back.

I run IE 8 on both laptops.

I thought it might be a wireless security problem so I tried disabling the security on the router and laptop SSID also disabling my Windows Firewall and disabling my AVG security and changing the Internet options - Security - from Default to the lowest security possible. No change!

I have run "Superantispyware and "MalwareBytes" - nothing found except a few cookies.

Any further suggestions?

I requested the above assistance 3 days ago. Sadly no one has replied. Anyway; for the benifit of anyone else who has a similar problem; the solution, in my case, was to change the "Get the IP and DNS addresses Statically" (on the laptop) to Dynamically/Automatically

Try uninstalling AVG as I there have been reported problems with connections and BSOD's with AVG. It might be worth a try!
I use MSE as my AV software and to date have had no problems with connections for my laptop and desktop.
