Windows Media Player 12 adds movie to one library but not other.

in my windows media player 12 i have 2 accounts, the standard one for the my user. and then theres another one with the same username except it has Mcx1 infront of it and the movie i want loaded into my library is in the library for that account, but it will not add to my account...

anyone have any ideas what this other account is, or how to get it to add to my account too?

yeah hold on ill post some pictures, i just noticed that nothing will add in my normal account.

I suspect this is also tied to your other issues about MPEGs not showing up in your library....

The account it that the movie shows up in was under other librarys but i removed the other accounts from that list and i cant get them to show back up now, but thats not really the problem i cant get the movies and pictures to show up normally in wmp, they only show up on that user account that doesnt exist.

yeah i thought it was just mpegs at first, but its everything pictures music, videos.

Did you have 2 user logins on the machine?

I have a single user login and all my stuff is showing up just fine...

And here is a set of 2 movies I have on my HD (one is a test file for showing the rendering quality) plus another Sikorsky video.

yeah theres another login account it comes up under other libraries like the mcx1 does, except theres no media in that user account.

i just read that mcx1 is for my xbox360 media center extender, but i dont understand why it comes up in there when the movie is not even in that account, but it wont show up in my account

i just copied that movie over to the other users account video library folder, and it shows up in there wmp then i clicked on other libraries and looked into my regular accounts library and the movie is showing up there too, but it wont show up on mine.. ill get a picture in a second

Perhaps it is the extender that is interfering then - I don't use an extender so I cannot troubleshoot that aspect of it....

yeah i dunno either... i used an extender with earlier windows 7 builds and never had this problem.

i just tried restoring my media library in wmp and restoring default libraries in the explorer, but nothing still. if anyone else could chime in with some ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

does anyone know a way to uninstall windows media player 12? so i can try reinstalling it.

Problem solved... i just had to goto the C/users/username/appdata/local/microsoft/mediaplayer and delete all the library database files.

i guess there is a hotfix for this problem for windows media player 11, i guess 12 has the same problem http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941651/en-us

My libraries were all messed up so thanks for the info. Now I cant get my 360 to see the video files. It sees the folders but says No videos found when I open them on the 360.

hmm i didnt have that problem... try disconnecting from the computer on the xbox, and on the computer make sure all your sharing settings are correct.

I have just setup Media Centre and that is working on the 360. Still no joy through the Video Library as it only sees the folders but not any of the files.

Windows 7 64-bit build 7057 Media Player Library Issues

The problem I'm having is kinda the same and I've traced it to Win7 build 7057 (maybe just the version of MP12 contained - I've haven't tracked that build number).

I can add directories to the libraries in the Library view of Explorer, but they do not show up as available in Media Player. If I add them in Media Player, that do not index and show the contents; also, if Media Player is closed and restarted, the ones I added through Media Player are gone from the list.

This is really bugging' me (no pun intended). Win7 build 7048 had a DLNA complaint server able to serve and transcode drv-ms and wtv files straight to my PS3, but had severe memory leak issues (eat up 4 gigs of RAM in about 8 - 10 minutes and restart the video) in the transcoding part. Build 7057 doesn't have the memory leak, but I can't add any of my custom directories to the libraries in Media Player.

I'm pretty convinced of this behavior. I've reinstalled build 7048 and 7057 several times each to confirm these bugs. I imagine it can be fixed with either some Registry change or rights alteration, but I'm stumped and Google'd out.

I've also tried deleting the MP databases but no luck.

Any ideas?
