Hi guys,

I am experiencing a major FPS drop problem in two games, so far.

First I noticed it with the Men of War : Assault Squad, when in the first mission the game is going ,well , let's say on mid-high pretty good ,meaning 20-50FPS. Then at the 3 position (with AA/AT gun) it just drops to 10fps. Even when I save the game and load it again to the same position 10fps and less.

Secondly I wanted to play coop an older game with my friend, the Ghost Recon : Adv. Warfighter 2. The game is running smoothly with max-high details (with some filtering) at around 50-70FPS(it depends). But after a while it also drops to 3-10fps sometimes I just need to wait and the fps goes back again to normal ,sometimes not. It stays on that low fps.

I made even a fresh install of Win7 Ent. x64 SP1 onto a free partition. To be sure!

1. Hardware related ?
- CPU temps are in normal 30 idle to 50 load (CoreTemp,SpeedFan etc.)
- GPU temps are in normal 30 to 60C
- GPU memory tested with VideoStressTest (I think) - no errors found
- temperature of the 3xHDD in normal 20 to 30C
- Memtested the RAM - seems to be OK - I changed even the freq. to 800Mhz (BIOS)
- integrated sound-card on mobo has the latest drivers from realtek

2. Software related ?
- firstly I had 260.99 after I noticed the issue I upgraded to 266.58 then tried 257.21(even worse with the old driver, overall performance)
- I am sure my PC is clean. I ran all kinds of AV AS. TSSD , Malwarebytes. Ran WinASO Reg. opt. , Uniblue pack. etc. , Eset , NIS .......
- The same issue is occuring with the fresh Win7 x64 SP1 without any AV FW. Only NVidia drivers + needed drivers and some other soft.

CoD : Black Ops - everything at max(high-ultra) and no FPS drop.
I will be trying another gamez to find out whether is it global or local problem.

I uploaded some screenshots taken with Fraps.
I also went through some threads, pls don't say "use the search button".

When testing GRAW2 I ran it in windowed mode and opened the taskmgr and when the fps drop occured there was a process called SYSTEM eating some 20-30% of CPU. When the fps went high again the SYSTEM process wasn't eating anything. I think this has to do something with fps drop.

I ran out of ideas. Could somebody suggest some advice ? To check anything.

EDIT : vsync - always off

I had a similar issue with sp1, only it was the load times that had gotten incredibly slow. They still are in fact. No level of defragging or cleaning up extra processes seems to help it. It translates into really poor frame rates at points in games. It's not the graphics though, it's the drive read request taking like 2 or 3 seconds to actually go through.

OK then, I am going to install Win 7 x64 untouched without SP1 to see and to be sure. Whether the SP1 is causing it.

- uninstalled FRAPS
- FPS drop persist

- At the very beginning of the map, where I start (for example). I don't move ,I just look backwards the FPS is good 60+ but when I look towards the direction I want to go (only way), it starts immediately. IMO it has to do something with loading new content.

Dunno. Will searching/googling and looking for solution. Makes me curious what's the f... problem.

since installing sp1 I've had much slower load times in games. If these games don't precache much and tend to load on the fly, that could explain it. Otherwise I would sweep and reinstall your driver.
I mean completely get rid of what's there then reinstall latest version.

Driver sweeper is a good tool.

Well , I installed the latest NVidia driver 266.58

IMO the first campaign mission is bugged ! Because I started Multip. > LAN only > LAN campaign and tried some other maps. And the FPS was OK. From 50 even to 90FPS no DROP (max details). We'll try coop /w friend and will see how will it behave.

yeah just installing the new driver may actually be the issue.
You need to scrub the old one out first to prevent possibly conflicts between the two versions. I have actually been seeing this increasingly with nvidia lately.
It's not really a big deal just one extra step in the process.

OK , this might be a solution. I was going through http://www.ghostrecon.net/ forums and read something about the PhysX driver. It seems that the newer PhysX v9 was causing the trouble with FPS drop. Weird but the problem was gone after I installed the old PhysX 7.11.13 driver.

- Uninstall PhysX driver version 9.xxxxx
- and install PhysX_7.05.17_SystemSoftware.exe which comes with GRAW2 (install DVD) (or download)

;)

Im encountering the same exact issue on my laptop, I just did a clean install of Windows 7 x64, and after the install I can't play anything at all, in BFBC2 i can play for a about 5 minutes until FPS hits the floor and CPU goes 100%, before the clean install I ran everything perfectly.
