Solved IE9 default save as type

Saving web pages in IE9 RTM defaults to web page complete (.htm), I always save pages as arhcives (.mhtml). I've just restored IE9 back to beta and it defaults to .mhtml which is what I want.

I can't find a way to change the default save as type in IE9 RTM and if there isn't one, I guess I'll have to stick with the beta.

Anyone have any advice for me?

Hi there,

As far as my knowledge i don;t believe there is a way to do that but found that script that used to work in IE7 "Save as" MHT IE6/7 context menu extension not sure if this works on IE9 ..

Thanks for that, don't think it's what I'm looking for though. Firstly, because I'd have to buy something and secondly, it appears I'd have no control where the file was saved.

Looks like I'm stuck with beta for now.

Oops sorry mate .. Didn't see the part where you have to buy. Let's see if someone else have an answer.

Okie Dokie ... ! Well if your happy with it that all it matters.

Answer: IE9 will download and save web pages in .mht format. Microsoft is not allowing IE9 to open the MHT files. Weird eh?

So. You will need two browsers on your system, the one you prefer for browsing on a regular basis and one to open your MHT files. e.g. Firefox and Chrome.

Note: Microsoft has no desire to enable IE9 to open MHT. I'v reseached it.

Not hard to understand changing from a browser that is hard to configure the way you like to do things to a browser that makes it easy.
