trying to get rid of Window Security pop-ups

Hello,

I'm having problems with windows security pop-up whenever I try to install a program.

when I try to install, the Windows Security pop up gives me this message: These files can't be opened - Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.

How do I get rid of this pop-up so I can install my program?

Try saving them to your computer first, then right click, run as admin.

What are these files you are trying to open?

The program I'm trying to open is a demo of Photoshop that's on my desktop. Took your advice and ran as an administrator, but I still get the same pop-up

Check the following setting Launching Applications and unsafe files, it can be found in: control panel > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom level... . It should be set to Prompt (Recommended). If it is set to deny, you end up with the Windows Security message when trying to run random .exe files.

Also, try running the problem .exe under another admin account if the above doesn't work.

Some of the answers given in that link are a little dubious :/ I'd be careful.

Are you are downloading with IE?

The problem may be that your default internet zone security may be "too tight". This is a GOOD thing actually Though by default they shouldn't be that tight unless you have some other antivirus software running or are on a domain where your admin has purposely made this restriction.

If you can rule out domain setings and AV software try putting "www.adobe.com" into your "trusted sites" list and relax the settings some. Then re-download.

You should always make a conscious descision to trust a site before downloading anything but this is a perfect example of how to use the trusted/untrusted zones in IE.

I checked out Bill 2 link and tried out the suggestions, but I still get the pop up.

thanks for the suggestion Newt, I went to check out my setting for Launching Applications and unsafe files and it was on "prompt".

Hey Fseal, tried your suggestion as well, but when I try to add Adobe.com to my trusted sites list, I get this:"Sites added to this zone must use the https:// prefix". So i threw in Adobe, but still gives me the same message.

I do have other anti virus protection going for me. The ones I have installed are Spybot seek and destroy, Ad-Aware and AVG 9. All were free downloads. You guys think that might be cause me pain?

Oh heh there is a checkbox on the trusted sites list that says something like "Require HTTPS for all sites in this zone". Since the entire internet at large still refuses to support https you pretty much have little choice but to uncheck that.

AVG could easily be labeling all your doanloaded files as no execute. Might want to look up settings for that too...
