Hello,
I would like to set up an account (or configure the entire computer) where a user can log in and install whatever he wanted. However when he logs off, the computer should remove all changes (including removing any files downloaded) and bring it back to original form.
I have seen this type of set up typically in public computers and cyber cafes. Is it possible to do it using Win 7 Premium or XP professional?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Windows XP had steady state, which did this, however that does not function in Windows 7. This article may be of use: Download details: Creating a Steady State by Using Microsoft Technologies

Thanks Newt, Reshone, WinXP steady state was what I was looking for. Also thanks for links to Win7 emulated steady state doc. Much appreciated.

A Finnish programmer called Sami Laiho has produced a (freeware) Kiosk system which uses Windows 7.

Home - Wioski

Called WIOSKI , it uses the Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) to recreate a clean VHD of WIndows 7 each time it reboots. The system is available as an iso or USB download - you supply the Windows 7 install dvd.
