hello everyone, nowadays my pc are running slow and my game are lagging. When i run some of my game, my cpu usage become 100 percent and cause my game to lag. But this is not because of the graphic settings i have on the game. I have already try to defrag and do some checking like scanning with anti-virus. There is no problem on my pc. Well, for now... Can someone suggest me if i should buy or how to build a custom gaming rig that is cheap and powerful? Or else enough for the game nowadays to run smooth but not on max out settings? Actually my current pc is consider as old already. Well, i have a pentium D 3.40 ghz cpu and a NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT. If i just change to intel i7 processor with that graphic card, i could run the new game nowadays with no lag right? I hope you guys can help me with this. I appreciate that. Thank you.

The 9500GT is quite old for new games. I suggest a HD6770/6870 or an Nvidia series 400/500 for gaming
If i just change to intel i7 processor
You will need a new mainboard with at least 4GB of RAM and a 64-bit OS for gaming

the graphics card is the most important component for gaming

also cheaper (and much easier to install) than buying a new mobo/cpu/ram etc...

get the gfx card first, and if you still have problems, then think about uopgrading the rest of it.

You will be limited to 3GB of RAM if you use 32-bit. For that reason you should use 64-bit
The HD6870 is around $210

Actually, do i really need a 64 bit windows for gaming? Or i can choose to use 32 bit windows? And the graphic card that you suggest is around how much?

You don't but....

Since a 32-bit OS (Windows) is limited to 4gig of RAM be aware that Windows will reserve RAM space for your Video card.

So for example - If you have 4gig of RAM installed (system RAM) and then install a 1gig video card - that equals 5gig of RAM.

Since a 32-bit is limited 4gig of RAM, and it has to reserve that 1gig of RAM for your video card, that means you now only have 3gig of system RAM to play with. The 1gig that Windows reserved for the video card is only used for video stuff, and nothing else - for example other programs that don't use video memory.

In the end 1gig of that 4gig of system RAM you installed is basically useless as Windows doesn't have any room for it!

Just something to be aware of, outside of that, yes you can use a 32-bit OS to game. You'll just be short on memory, but for gaming this shouldn't be an issue anyway since your video card is used as well.

With today's video card's having at least 1gig of on-board RAM installed (my 6950 has 2gig), this is something that should be considered as well when deciding on which OS version to choose.

My two cents.

I just built a gaming rig for world of warcraft and starcraft II. Spent $159 on an EVGA graphics card from Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, HDTV, Electronics and Cameras!. A local computer store employee that I talked with about building my PC actually recommended getting parts from that website as you will be able to get a much cheaper deal than going to computer stores. I used to run these same games on a Dell Inspiron 1521 with 32-bit Windows Vista. It was okay, lagged a lot though. Upgraded to Win 7 64-bit and it got a little better. In all I spent roughly $858 with shipping & handling on the case, motherboard, gfx card, 8gb RAM, 1TB hard drive, cd/dvd burner, quad-core processor, and power supply. The computer store employee said if they built that same machine it would cost up to $2000. After getting it all built and everything installed, it flies through these games (WoW on ultra settings) and I saw I was missing out on a lot of the game and it improved my play style a LOT! Good luck.

Guys, thanks for all the suggestion.
But if I want to use Windows 64 bit, I need to reformat or I can upgrade???
If I need to reformat to Windows 64-bit, all the 32 bit program cannot be use anymore?

Well, can someone help me with this?
hello everyone, nowadays my pc are running slow and my game are lagging. When i run some of my game, my cpu usage become 100 percent and cause my game to lag. Just now, I have already go to Microsoft site and look at the 32 bit and 64 bit FAQ and they say most of the 32 bit program will work on 64 bit of Windows. What if I change to Intel i5 2nd generation processor?
Do I need to change a new motherboard or use a 64 bit Windows?

No you do not have to reformat, it will do that when you install the operating system you can upgrade to pro or ultra 64bit but it will cost you money and you can run any game in a 32 bit system as with a 64 bit I want you to understand the CPU has to match motherboard the performance comes from the GPU video card when playing games also Intel i5 or i7 will not change 32 to a 64 bit you should study more before you buy anything unless you are made of gold

Thanks for the advice but still I doesn't sure that if 32 bit Windows can upgrade to 64 bit of Windows.
I have look on various thread and a lot of people said that we cannot upgrade 32 bit to 64 bit of Windows. It must be a clean install then it will work.

Well, what makes you so sure to say that Intel is a bunch of crap?
And I doesn't use AMD before mate, I not sure is the performance is better that intel or not. Well all these company (AMD and intel) is a good company to me though. Can you suggest me a custom build of gaming rig with my current specs?
I have a Pentium D 3.40GHz and a NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT. If I upgrade to i5 or i7, I still need a 64 bit Windows or I only need 64 bit Windows if I use i7?
Haha, I have a little bit of knowledge on PC but not as pro as you guys :D

And what do you mean by "Intel would not make a 32 bit into a 64"?
I don't get it.

What do you Disagree totally with in what I said I told them AMD was the way to go and that Intel would not make a 32 bit into a 64

And what do you mean by "Intel would not make a 32 bit into a 64"?
I don't get it.
I'm sorry!!!

Im just talking about basiclly if you buy an amd proccessor your gunna be saving yourself money and geting the same performance as an "i7" or better

Oh...
How much is it that the AMD processor that can have the same performance as i7?

Build you a new rig. gamers know AMD is the way to go.
AMD graphics is proven the best.
AMD quad core is all that is necessary for gaming.
I will put a links below so you can study what components works with what and charts that show proven performance in test.
Build or Upgrade

Performance Charts - Tom's Hardware

There is simply no 'best' brand, both Intel and AMD are good The choice depends on the user
Disagree totally, listen intel is a bunch of crap i think they bring out all these i7 chips and AMD will look at it and go oooo hmmm and bring out one similar to that chip that performs twice as better in the long run and saving yourself money
So listen kid the one who started this thread go out get yourself a banging AMD machine dont be afraid to post anything you dont understand on here
AMD ROCKS !
remember it !
This is just your opinion which makes no sense, as said earlier both Intel and AMD are good choices
A clean install is the only option. Ultra 64-bit? That doesn't even exist!
the performance comes from the GPU video card when playing games
Performance largely depends on the CPU
What do you Disagree totally with in what I said I told them AMD was the way to go and that Intel would not make a 32 bit into a 64
Wrong. Intel x86 CPUs supports 32bit in a 64-bit OS
Thanks for the advice but still I doesn't sure that if 32 bit Windows can upgrade to 64 bit of Windows.
I have look on various thread and a lot of people said that we cannot upgrade 32 bit to 64 bit of Windows. It must be a clean install then it will work.
Correct. A clean install is the only option to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit
I have a Pentium D 3.40GHz and a NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT. If I upgrade to i5 or i7, I still need a 64 bit Windows or I only need 64 bit Windows if I use i7?
You will need a new mainboard to use an i5 or i7 CPU
How much is it that the AMD processor that can have the same performance as i7?
Both AMD and Intel CPUs in a specific performance range are at similar prices
You will need a new mainboard for an AMD CPU

We certainly don't need misinformation posted. Opinions are one thing, misinformation is another.

As to which chip is better?..... Ford or Chevy, Vanilla or Chocolate - It depends on what you like.
