Hi, im running windows 7 (7100) 32 bit.
Ive got Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio in, ive downloaded the xp, vista and 7 beta drivers from creative, they either say driver version not found OR they say the device isnt plugged in properly, which it is having run it with xp. The only thing i dont have is the disk anymore.

Has anyone managed to get this sound card working with 7? if so how did you manage it?

PCI or PCI-E version? The drivers are different for each.

or do i need
-PAX X-FI OS Driver V6.55 codename “Wing Foot”
Or doesnt it matter between the two? I need whats best for getting the surround sound and mic working.

Neither as both of those are for the real X-Fi's, of which your isn't. If you insist on trying his drivers you need any of the one's near the bottom that are based on any of the XFXA driver sets, none of the others will work. If in doubt compare the driver version he lists with what is available from Creative for your card.

P.S. Nice to see that his descriptions of his supposed driver sets (all he does is add device ID's and make some very questionable INF changes) are as messy as the INF changes he makes. Oh and in case anyone is wondering what I mean about him and his messy modding,

http://forums.creative.com/creative...ard.id=soundblaster&message.id=136304#M136304

One of these days he may just change the name as there is little to nothing left of PAX, for the same reason that the YouP name has been dropped from them.

Since May 29 there has been a new X-Fi Xtreme beta driver for Windows 7 available here:

Creative Worldwide Support

Have you tried it? It works fine with my SB X-Fi Xtreme card. Note that it automatically seems to install itself as a "7.1 Surround" system. You will need to go into "Control Panel | Sound" and select ""Configure" to choose the speaker option that matches the audio set-up you actually have.

So is the SB Live 24 bit, which is all the Xtreme Audio really is. Also why up until a little while ago the drivers for the Live 24 bit as well as the Audigy SE/DE/Value and the Xtreme Audio were a unified set, one driver package for all. All the Xtreme Audio is basically is a renamed SB Live 24 bit/Audigy SE/DE/Vlaue that gets to use some of the X-fi software (and doesn't even have game mode that the rest of the X-Fi's have).

As far as surround goes on that Audigy 2, it would probably work if you used these,

SB Audigy Series Support Pack 2.0 (04/17/2009) - Sound Blaster - Creative Labs

instead of the drivers from Creative. Also depends on what the source is, if it is a stereo source (pretty much any music), then the only way to get surround out of it is to enable CMSS3D, which the card supports.

Agree completely, I've been using these for Vista and Win7 so I would believe you would see the same results as I have (no issues)
