:sarc: When I try to install SP1 for my Win7 64-bit system, I get the following message. I downloaded the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2011], but that didn't help. I went to the MS link in the message; but is there a fix that does not involve reinstalling Win7?

I also can't install the two Security Updates that are listed above SP1 under important updates: KB2506212 and KB2506223. Thanks for any help. :)

ConMac welcome to our Forum,

* I believe you forgot to include the message you received.

* Did you read through this link before attempting to install SP1?

Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from the Microsoft Download Center

*Have you checked in Event Viewer ?
Event Viewer - Windows Logs - System & Application.
Check for any red error messages to do with this problem.

* For trouble shooting -
I suggest you try to install one IMPORTANT update at a time.
See how that goes. If successful continue, one at a time.

* For SP1 KB 976932 use the link below -

Download details: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)

CheckSUR Log As Requested

I had to make two captures of this log because it's so big. Does it indicate why I can't install SP1?
I tried downloading IE9 and MS Mr. Fix It, but I can't still install SP1 and those two other updates. I have checked for malware using Norton Internet Security 2011, and there are none. Installing the updates one at a time doesn't work either.

Under Step 3 of what to do before installing SP1. I checked for these installed updates: KB2454826, KB2534366, and KB2533552. And I have them installed.

What am I missing? Should I try to download SP1 from MS directly?:)

Hello again!

And then open the log file again (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log) but this time can you please just copy and paste the entire thing into a new reply.

I'll run the System Readiness Update Readiness Tool again. Regarding the screen capture of the log: didn't I paste the entire thing into my last reply?

Norton is preventing the installation. Windows Firewall needs to be turned on in order to install SP1... Norton disables it!

It worked! I ran the System Update Readiness Tool again and I was able to install SP1, and about 22 other critical updates. Now, however, it fails to install two Security Updates: KB250612 and KB250223. How do I install these? Are they important? :geek:

The WindowsMail program gives you the Vista WindowsMail program in Windows 7. I did it on my desktop and my friends laptop and both computers would not accept the update. Perhaps I will look into the fax connection. Jim
