Word wont start, re-installed, still does not work

The Microsoft office word on my system has stopped working.

This is the message that pops up.

38384044688950085868.jpg

If I press yes, it just crashes. If I press no it does the same.

The other office programs are working fine. So I uninstalled, cleaned registry with CCleaner, restarted, installed it again but it is still showing the same message.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

I am using Office 2010, 64Bit.

Seavixen32: thanks, will try that.
But I think it's could be a registry related issue .

I have already tried repairing before uninstalling and reinstalling . I used the first method from your link. But somehow it didn't work. :(

But I think it's could be a registry related issue .

On the basis that the registry could be the problem, uninstall Office then open regedit.

Backup the registry then navigate to this key:

HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Office

Delete this key, which should remove the hive for Microsoft Office.

Close regedit and restart your computer then re-install Office.

The Word Error is still there :(

Hi

I tried both Revo Uninstaller Pro and deleted the Office registry from (HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Office) and the reinstalled Office again. And still it's giving the same error for Word :(

Excel and Powerpoint are working fine like it did before.

Any other solution?

Hi SKT,

This is not a fix but does it work if you open Word in safe mode (When i say safe maode i don't mean the computer but the actual software {word})

In the start menu search field type WINWORD /SAFE and press enter
Untitled.png

Does it open that way without crashing?

JDobbsy1987

Thanks JDobbsy! Yes it's opening.

When I follow your instructions, it's giving the same error message like in my last post.
If I say yes it's opening without crashing. In the safe mode it seems to be able to open word files. But printing preferences are greyed out.

Still it is not opening in normal mode.

Yes winword /a is working.
I remember it didn't work earlier!
What does it mean?

But still can't launch it normally.
Now what should I do?

Do you have any disabled items?

Click the drop down box where it says 'Manage' at the bottom and select 'Disabled Items' then click 'Go'

Does it show anything disabled?

OK, lets try this.

Rename or Delete the 'Normal.dotm' file

To do this:
1.) Go to "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates"
2.) Rename or delete the 'Normal.dotm' file.
3.) Start Word (normal mode) and the file you just deleted/renamed will be re-created.

Does it work now?

JDobbsy1987
