Constany lock ups, BSOD, wont boot u name it

Computer locks up when it feels like it; usually within minutes; on MS Outlook, IE, Chrone, Mozilla, Outlook, shutting down, right clicking recycle bin... u name it. "not responding". Maybe it will eventually start working, but huge delays...... took to computer repair s hop $170 later, after virus check and "Windows corrupted files" they said it was fixed; two minutes after trying at home it did the same. Took it back.... two weeks later "we cant find any problems". But it still did it; took in monitor, they reloaded windows 7 and MS Office.... nothing.... "no problem" except it doesnt work. in the interim.... original memory replaced; 6gb to 12 (gift), three keyboards and mice tried; didnt install my printer, anything but mouse and keyboard and monitor; i am hooked up to AT&T DSL, was running wireless adapter..... disconnected Utopia wireless and went to ethernet cable.... no change. Locks within minutes,usually when reading email or on net, but has done it randomly when, for example, trying to open task manager...... i can get BSOD, or the screen goes opaque over whatever is showing. of course have the constant busy signal..... did in safe mode w/o networking. Others use my wireless connection no problem. So, i finally took out MOBO bios battery, then did a (second) "clean" windows 7 home install..... nothing. same thing. This "computer repair"place said it must have been a power surge.... yet they couldnt duplicate it at their shop??? I ran Crystaldisk info for HD, always use virus software... Malaware, etc etc. Per this shop they ran CPU HDD yadda yadda tests diagnostics on HDD< MOBO and CPU to no avail; i asked about the DSL,they said no way. I'm about ready to just buy a new MOBO, then new I7 920 or 950 and see what happens. The latest is a mini screen saying "Windows not responding" great. HELP Excuse not posting as per instructions but cmjputer not exactly cooperative and i have no more patience.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.



To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

Same problem; "Not Responding" on IE, Outlook, "Send Receive" window, right clicking on file for "properties". Long delays between selecting and having file open or close. Screen goes opaque over whatever is there. Attaching latest dump file.

NEW DUMP FILE - perform report errors

Let's try again. my latest dump uploaded. i tried running performance report multiple times; it always times out; error...... and locks up during. (not responding).

i doublechecked the settings; all as i was told to leave them.... i did notice the "overwrite existing file" box wasnt checked but i couldnt change it un til i changed the setting for dump size; so i finally wound up ch ecking that ok'ing out and rebooted. then i ran - again - the Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_ and it said it was copying the 060511-25989-01 dump file; still 06/05 . of course it took forever after reboot just to get that program to respond...... a minute??? so now w hat; upload whatever is there,regardless of date on it??

No problem but if the date is still 6/5 we already have it, and "overwrite" should be unchecked.

Actually i get a Black screen frequently; more typically i get "not responding" from whatever screen/program i am on; follow that by length delay and they it will start responding again. I reloaded Norton the other day and the day later it wouldnt open; i finally uninstalled it and reloaded it. Virtyally anything will cause that delay, no response, lack of response. shutting down, right clicking.... huge delays at best; at worst i lose patience and restart. Have tried in safe modes; same results sooner or later.

black screen more what i see; or get a foggy haze overlaying the screen and the neverending busy signal; Programs wont open, or take forever. I get "Not Responding" adjacent to the program name..... eventually it will start running again; but it could be a while. it does it shutting down, trying to open task center, left click, right click; everywhere and anywhere., but Blue..... notlately.

Norton is often the cause in BSOD's so personally I would remove it but I dont think i t is involved in the "black screen" here.

Your delay however, is almost certainly caused by it.

Delay factors; summation of action to date

I ran the computer without Norton; actually without any virus protection, for 3 days; then i downloaded AVG. At no time did anything get better. I reloaded two days ago. I do intend to get rid of it once subscription runs out in fall. SAO, this computer has had indows 7Home Premium 64 loaded on it once by Cyberpower, once by the suppoded computer repair persons, and a third time by myself. It started with wireless mouse and keyboard and since has had three different sets of USB ones tried. Nothing but those and monitor installed. Memory; started with original 6gb, was gifted with 12gb/. Computer shop said they tried their stick on it also. I have purchased online a driver update program and updated around 78 (i believe it was) drivers. Of course no change. I had previously uploaded latest ASUS for the P6T SE. That sums it up I guess..... other than a variety of diagnostics, r egistry cleaners, misc CNET downloads......
Now what?????? I really appreciate any suggestions; Fatheyr's Day coming and I will spend my way out of this if i have to. I just refuse to give up on what was supposed to be my personally designed, lean mean machine. Snail Mail is quicker than this t hing!

With no new information (DMPS) it is difficult to diagnose. Since you already have reloaded windows a few times I think we can eliminate that, and shold concentrate on the hardware.

I am going to throw the kitchen sink at you to see if something will give us more info.

The results from the DMP files do not give a definitive answer. While we investigate further here are a few things that you can do>

1-Run a system file check to verify and repair you system files. You do this by typing cmd in search, then right click and run as admin. SFC/ SCANNOW

2-Download a 3rd party app called memtestx86, burn it so cd, and run memtest for 5-6 passes.

3-Event viewer
There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

4-Device manager
Please go to start>search>type device manager. (Win 7 and Vista)
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If your driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

5-Driver verifier
Beyond that, please run Verifier with these settings:

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel

latest status; event log pics

many event 41 am sure fromme shutting off computer when it not responding. any app hang is 1002 typically "windows IE stopped interacting with windows". evemt 7000 "computer browser failed to start" "error; service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" or "due to logon failure" or event 1014 warnings "...timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded". but screen shots show numbers. anecdotal comment... just trying to do this today i had eventvwr would not open, twice, then i could not close it "cannon close MMC until all diag boxes closed" and there were none open. IE went "not responding with busy signal, then the whige fog over the screen.....
then attempted to open outlook... didnt respond, busy signal for 2-3 secs then nothing..... until about 3 minutes later when it finally opened. in the interim nothing else would open either, althoug i could get the start menu to pop up and items on toolbar.... hope someof this h elps

Memtest86 rain 7 passes w/o errors. will look at verifier next.
so att no BSOD per se, just comuter doesnt respond to commands, such as trying to open a program, right clicking on it, Explorer, et al. large lags, locks up, ultimately 90% of the time it will respond. Usual "(fill in blank) Not Responding"

safe mode; removed reg keys, tried to delete pics of errors i posted; not respnding, then black screen.
rebbot.... ie "not responding" when i opened it, then black screen.

then couldnt get it to boot safe or any mode.
using install cd.... took FOREVER to get to opening screen; tried to use "repair options" got curson on blank screen for over 5 minutes. tried again.... finally came up.... wouldnt let me restore"must id restore point" orsomesuch. Used "Repair startup problems from disk.... then restore optionfromth ere. booted u p. here i am; all th is took all morning.
absolutely bewildered now; just hope i can stay semi functional. help appreciate
