Problems moving pictures to other folders

After recovery of all my pictures, that I forgot to backup prior to a factory image retsore, I have duplicates of some of the pics. I used two recovery programs to ensure I retrieved as many as possible.

At first the procedure went well: the duplicate was moved to the folder I had allocated with the intention of erasing all at once. And once movement of a file was complete it vanished from the original location.

However, now the duplicate is still visible in its original location together with the unmoved file , but also in the new one! The duplicate does not disappear until after a reboot. Crazy though may seem, I also vaguely suspect that some moved files even then are reappearing in their original locations.

Apart from my insanity, can anyone suggest what is wrong, and what I am to do to cure the problem? Please!

I presume the cleaners only send to bin rather than erase: I'd prefer to erase rather than bin.

And I want to tell you little about my experience with this type of duplicate finder programs.
Most of them do not use enough secure method for verifying true duplicates. And after one big lose and many experiments I don`t trust to any method lower than compare SHA-512 checksums!

It appears safe this end scanned with mse/malwarebytes and cnet is usually a reputable site, however thats not the point there are plenty of other programs out there if the OP is unsure and the idea wasnt to go "gung ho" at deleting what it finds but more to see the extent of the problem.

Im not sure of the extent of your problem here but is it possible to reverse your thinking a little and do things the other way.Instead of creating a folder to delete all your duplicates create a folder and move/copy 1 copy of each picture to it then when your finished just delete everything else.I know, (myself for one) some people have 1000's of pictures saved so this may not be viable to you but may be worth a shot.

I take the point, but experiments with single file give same result.

How about moving them to an external device HDD/USB. Im presuming the duplicates are named differently or you could just use to copy and replace feature.

It gives you a safeguard, anytime you allow a program to decide if two files are duplicate or not. By going to the bin, you have an easy undo.
