my computer is making this occasional disruptive vibrating noise when

playing audio. audio of any kind. its coming through the detached speakers. do you know what this could be?

the noise is sort of a fast, digital "do do do do do do" & it sort of has a vibrating sound to it.

It's interference, do you have a phone nearby your speakers? If so, just move it away a meter or two, happens to everyone.

the speakers have been near a phone for weeks now but this noise just started yesterday. i just moved the phone about 2 feet away & its still making this noise.

It sounds to me like maybe you have other resources running and this will cause the audio to stutter when it's robbed of the computing power it needs to perform it's audio tasks. My old dual cores did this when running multiple programs or when my virus program was updating or when outlook was grabbing new emails etc.

Could be coil whine if changing the power strip or removing phones from the area doesn't help.

Indeed, also, make sure the phone is away from the "box" which is used to control your volume and where all of your speakers are connected. That is, if you have it.
