I am running the beta on a Dell M1530 (laptop) and it just won't recognize the second monitor at all. I was running dual-monitors just fine on Vista. Any suggestions?

Go to Press Windows Key and Pause Break to bring up the System Properties. Then go to Device Manager. Under Device Manager go to Display Adapters. What does it say you have for a display adapter?

I've been having a similar problem but mine seems to run a bit deeper.

I am using the windows 7 release candidate and I have an ATI Radeon 4770 graphics card (I think this may be the problem).

I cannot get the computer to even acknowledge the existence of a second monitor; when I go to 'display properties' it just acknowledges the larger of the two, and treats both monitors as if they were the same one.

I tried disconnecting the larger of the two, and it didn't seem to notice anything had changed.
I've gone to device manager and tried to update my display adapters; it just has 'standard VGA graphics adapter' and seems to think everything is properly up to date.

Everything worked seamlessly with Vista Ultimate 64-bit and I can't even get my dual monitor set up going on this new OS.

Update; I figured out the location of the drivers on the disk that came w/ the graphics card, fed it into the driver updating feature w/in device manager and I can do the dual display thing now.

I ran the catalyst install manager, and nothing happens once the install manager finishes installing; i.e. I never get a chance to install 'catalyst control center', the process just stops. I had CCC on here before, but it wasn't working properly (presumably because I didn't have the drivers), I could only access this feature called 'hydravision', and had none of the options I'm accustomed to seeing w/in CCC (e.g, display manager). I think I need to uninstall, wipe everything ATI off the system, and go back in from scratch.

Atm it seems old cards don't like the 9.4 driver and new cards don't like the 9.4 CCC. Glad you got it working, but keep an eye out for the official 9.5 driver as it's supposed to be a good one.

Just got CCC working, but now I've got no display manager in this version! Where will be the best place to procure said 9.5 driver and when is it supposed to be available?

Makes sense....looks like ATI kinda dropped the ball on this one. Will await this 9.5 with 'bated breath. Thanks for the information.

win7 wont detect 2nd monitor

Windows 7 upgrade won't detect 2nd monitor
I recently upgraded a system with Windows Vista to Windows 7 Enterprise. I had problems when it would not detect the second monitor. I tried everything downloading different drivers from different websites. I finally found the solution on my own. 1st download the driver you know is the correct or best for your system and save it on your desktop do not install it. Next open device manager and and uninstall display adapters, and restart your computer. By now you have propbly downloaded so many drivers that you are confusing the instructions to turn on your second monitor. Check to see if you can extend the second monitor by pressing the Windows + P key at the same time. Try to extend the monitor. If it doesnt pick up keep uninstalling and tring same steps over. Finally when no more drivers are left your system should take the one driver. The Intel(R) Q45/ Q43 worked for me. So good luck this finally worked for me. The key is to keep uninstalling and restarting to see if your system keeps tring to install new found hardware on its own.

I actually found out why this was happening. I was plugging my second monitor into the wrong port. I have two VGA ports and only one of them is the active graphics card.
