My Windows Media Player was fine a week ago. However, a few days ago. It keeps displaying the blue loading ring and have a very slow response. When I open the Music section, its already lagging( nothing is being played at all) so i do not think its something with video codex.

Sadly i need Windows Media Player as my MP3 player only supports WMP and have i no idea to stop this lag when nothing is being played at all!

Using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit

Help!

Thank you.

Hi, welcome here

What happens if you disconnect the mp3 player while using wmp?
Wmp might be communicating with the gadgets, still it should not slow down like that.

What things have you done to the pc since 1 week ago?

Also do you have any codecs installed?

No, I did not install any codecs. All i did 1 week ago was overclocking my graphics card but i have left it at the original stock speed as i only need it to play Battlefield 3. Then, i just watched a video in WMP and the lag started. I thought it would go away if i restarted my computer but it didnt. WMP was fine when playing music at first[with the video lag] but the lag issues started one day later.

Remove the overcloack and see if the problem goes away.
It's always better to sacrifice a little graphics quality of a video game rather than to put the whole system "at risk" by overcloacking your hardware.

Nope....Zunes don't work with WMP, only with their own Zune software ( I have one). Kinda silly, if you ask me.....since the Zune was a Microsoft device, why wouldn't it work with WMP? Decisions like that could be part of why they ultimately failed in the market and were discontinued recently.

I thought that discontinuation was a mistake. They removed it, then said it was an error, then removed it again and one department said they were discontinuing them, but then they brought them back and another department claimed they ain't goin' nowhere... or something like that.

Though I agree WMP VS. Zune is silly because they are the same media player, just with different UIs and the fact that Zune is more of an iTunes alternative because of the Zune Marketplace.

With all of Microsoft's resources, I wonder why they gave up so early on the Zune HD. When they released it, it was a step behind the then 3rd-generation iPod Touch, but why didn't they ever improve it? It's a nice player, but it is not in the same class as my 4th-generation Touch.....I wonder why they never updated it?

My Sony Walkman doesn't support adding album art in Itunes. It only works with WMP. I try contacting sony but all they did was repeat like a robot asking me to use WMP. Currently what i have done was turn off windows features and deleted WMP 12. Install WMP 11 but there is an error that WMP 11 is not installed properly and needs to be reinstalled.

If you want to add album art you need Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...)
Depending on which Walkman you have, (I've had three of them over the last couple of years) you may not need WMP at all...you may be able to add your album art to your files with MP3Tag, and then copy and paste your music right onto the WAlkman directly, bypassing WMP. WMP sucks for managing portable players.;)

Or you could just use Sony Media Go which probably supports your player, since it's Sony's lol
