For the nth time, they keep saying the PC is dead.

i tried to honestly put photo shop on a tablet and all I can say it was so painful for me I just decided my PC was gonna stick around for the long haul...so yea....guess the PC aint dead, yea it may be immobial but guess what its a lot more powerful them my most powerful laptop (which is good but not as good) and if im on the go with my laptop im not really playing games anyways, sadly thats kinda grown out of me a bit and im just keeping it around because it does what I want and its my experimentation toy now :D

Too right

For something that is dead it sure has an irritating way of irritating me.

Yeah jd but it couldn't be more irritating than one those toys eh?

As for me I think I posted earlier do these characters realise that we are all ageing and form 21 everything is going south including your eyesight. Now I don't know about anyone else but to stand there squinting at some piece of cr errrr toy in your palm would drive me nuts. No bring on the big screen and something you can get inside and change things around!!

Oh and I think your home town's name is so cool:thumbsup:

LOL I like that now which of the roughly 372 species of parrots did you have in mind? We have some really brilliant ones out here and I reckon they all ought to have an Ipad / Blackberry or whatever they call them things. Wouldn't last long with some them and in my mind a good job too :geek:

I work with a lot of female staff and they are forever playing with the wretched things so you can imagine what the work rate is like. I'll be so glad when the fad dies out a bit, as I am also sick of having to block ads in my emails for these devices, and I am shortly coming off Cnet mailing list too - sick of hearing about Apple this Apple that:mad:

I don't think the PC will ever die, not in our generation anyhow.
No doubt tablets and laptops will catch up, but they'll never be as powerful and as reliable as a personal computer, thus keeping the PC the leader.

i think blue Ray is outdated anyway. 25 GB on a slow CD size device while i cna have much cheaper and faster flash memory that is easier to handle? It is just a copyright issue and bandwith limitations that justify existence of disks like that.
If not for blue ray, how else can you distribute 20+ GB ?

I have 12 mbps internet. That's around 5 GB per hour best case. So 4 hours to download the equivalent of a blue ray disk. Too slow.

Meanwhile the blue ray disk costs, what, a buck to produce? Much cheaper than any disk drive.

Disk drives are for keeps. Blue ray is for distribution. Neither is a replacement for the other. They each have a distinct role.

It's a Laptop.
There is a lot of things that I do that can't be accomplished using a portable computer. I need all the processing power I can get. And that comes from a desktop computer. As far as gaming goes and the PC, a lot of my games are meant to be played on a desktop computer so I will still stick with it as long as possible.

Hi all
I posted on the W8 Forum (hope it's not against the rules here to mention W8) that I belive a Killer app would be a 10.1 inch PC with a detachable screen which could be used as a tablet either running W8 or android or whatever.

When the tablet was inserted back into the PC dock it would just be a 100% bog standard PC screen.

Why there isn't any of this type of hard ware apart from the ASUS which only runs android I can't understand.

If I saw a decent tablet /PC combo like I've described I'd buy it in a shot.

Cheers
jimbo
