how do i burn avi for dvd playback

not using Windows DVD Maker or nero
as of right now im using nero but it always loads when i boot up and there are tons of stuff thats not needed only thing i use it for is to burn data to dvds mainly avi to watch on my tv using my dvd player
Windows DVD Maker takes to much of the time on the dvd only 150 min. per a dvd when i use nero im able to burn 3-4 videos to a dvd is there a way to change the time into gbs in Windows DVD Maker are is there a software that would just do the job im looking to do
im going to try imgburn and see how the playback is with that

for free, you could try freemake video converter, or dvdflick

i'm sure other members can suggest alternatives...

dvdflick uses ImgBurn technology to execute the DVD burning process and it pops up while the actual burning takes place

im going to cut the middle man out by just trying imgburn so i hope that will do the trick

are you sure imgburn can transform an avi into something you can play on a dvd player?

im thinking so because when i go to burn it tells me

theres a avi in the main root do you want me to change the settings since im such a nice program

The most important bit of information is if your DVD player(s) can play divx/avi/xvid.

If so, you can just burn the files using Imgburn. Imgburn will suggest the correct file system format. Just click Yes or Ok to the suggestions.

If the files will play may depend on if they have warp points and other anomalies. Newer UltraDivx players are more tolerant. Even so, I run xvid/avi/divx through AviDemux with all the automation settings checked. It will unpack bit streams and rebuild the indexes if needed. Often it's all you have to do to prep the videos.
