WinPE Emergency Disk won't Load, PC reboots

Hi, I made a WinPE Emergency disk for recovery, I also made a partition backup of my system which I put on a USA 1TB external drive.

Nothing is wrong with my system but I just wanted to check to see if I could access the backup image.

But when I boot from the CD I get past the 'Windows is loading files' page, then to a different page with the EaseUS logo, but the load bar only goes 1/8th of the way before my computer reboots itself.

The same thing happens if I use the EaseUS Linux version of the CD.

Could it be an error made during the burn process?

You could try another burn, maybe with another burning app or at a lower speed or with a different brand of disk, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is just EaseUS being finicky.

I use both EaseUS and Macrium. My EaseUS Linux disk works. My Macrium Linux disk does not, so I made a WinPE disk to use with Macrium.

Sounds like an example of why imaging is not highly reliable to begin with--maybe you ought to try Macrium or Acronis or another choice. One may work perfectly every time and the other may give you fits that you can't explain.

Success seems to be related to the hardware involved. There may be something about your hardware that conflicts with EaseUS.

Yes that's what I was thinking initially. Could it be that perhaps EaseUS cannot see the partition image on the USB drive and thus aborts the loading process and reboots the PC?

I might try copying the Image backup to another dive to see, I might also have to try those programs you mentioned.

Also, could an image made by one program be used by another program to restore an image?

I'd guess that is one more complexity that may have an effect. My images are stored on an internal, so I don't have to deal with it.

I don't think you will have any luck restoring an image made by app A with app B. They use differing file formats (tib, mrg, pbd, and so on) which are not interchangeable as far as I know.

I will create a partition to store the images on an internal drive and see if it works. I would have preferred having an image on an external drive in case of power outages damage.

Could you remove your drive from the external and mount it internally? I have 3 separate internals.

But yeah, just as an experiment if nothing else, try a second partition on your current internal.
