Health issues because of computer

Hello.
I am 18 year old male, and I do spend alot of time in fron of computer. I thought, maybe you guys can help my to answer some questions.
I have dark circles under my eyes, but they are horrible and make huge contrast. My autumn, winter and spring routine is: wake up 7am, go to school, come at about 3pm, till 5pm sit in fron of pc, then doing my homework(sometimes i do need pc for homework) and after that I also sit in fron of my pc. 10:30pm I go to sleep. Most of the time, I spend my weekends in fron of my pc.
How do you think, is computer the problem of this? If so, how can i "fix" my circles under my eyes, I mean, do you know any tecniques? I am going to be programmer, and in 2012 i will have to pass my final exams, so I have to spend big amount of time in front of pc (sometimes I do play games).
Thanks.

More sleep, less time in front of screen. At least look away from the screen more often.

As I know, 8.25 hours of sleep is perfect.
I can't spend lest time in fron of a screen, and I don't think that I will able able to do that in future, since I am going to be programmer. Thats why I need to find alternative solution.
Cosmetics is not the answer.
Thanks.

If 8.25 hours was enough sleep and you had enough down time from the screen the circles would be gone.

So the cure is simple as already stated by smarteyeball.

I do understand that, I am just asking if anyone knows any alternatives, for example, what kind of vitamins should I use, or maybe there is some medicine to us. As I said: I can't change my life style :/.

Try using Mom's make-up for sagging skin/wrinkles at bedtime.
Also slices of cucumbers placed over the eyes is suppose to help.

Try to take breaks after spending an hour on computer by going for short walks. Refreshes your mind and body.

may i share my experience here :p? as i am almost your age :) how are your eating habits?
i had the same issue a year back. i got a job & my work is where i have to be in front of the computer for 9.00am to 6.00pm (9 hours) & when i get back home, i'm on the computer till i go to bed. (i sleep mostly by 12.30 am sometimes 1.00am). the difference that made the dark circles go away were my eating habits (i used to eat less that time, compared to how much i eat now, bad appetite! & people still say me to eat more), & since i started work i am so tired that, when i go to bed i fall asleep instantly or within 5/10 minutes. hope this helps some :).

Bold words indeed, I felt the same way when I was your age. Invincible!
And you want to be a programmer? You keep going the way you are, and you will be burned out by the time you reach thirty-five.

An interesting look at common Programmer health problems:
Shedding Bikes: Programming Culture And Philosophy

The technical on Dark eyes:
Infraorbital Dark Circles: Definition, Causes, and Treatment Options - ROH - 2009 - Dermatologic Surgery - Wiley Online Library

Some Thoughts:
Do you keep hydrated?
Drink more water. 8-10 glasses per day, no excuses. Water helps to cleanse your body of impurities, which can contribute to dark eye circles.

Do you have chronic (read:infected) sinus problems?
You will need to see a doctor for this.

Do you have allergies?
Related to sinus, but caused by outside factors, like, animals, dust, molds, food, plants, perfumes, dyes, bathroom soaps, even something as mundane as the type of laundry detergent you use.

Do you have a healthy diet?
You asked about vitamins.
E, K, and antioxidants help, but if you have a well rounded diet you can get these in your meals.
E, and K can be toxic if taken in large doses.

You may not think it, but it sounds like you are already under a good deal of Stress:
Understanding Stress: Symptoms, Signs, Causes, and Effects

Do not forget, you are in this for the long haul, you have 70, 80, maybe even 90 years ahead of you, and you need to start developing healthy habits now.

Remember these words:
If you will not change your lifestyle, then your lifestyle will certainly change you.

Life at any age is about balance.

We all have many pressures that we deal with.

You have a choice in your own destiny.

Motivation {or lack of} from within will account for most things you achieve, or not!

Is your life in balance?
Diet, sleep, relaxation time, exercise, work time, socialization, "play time." etc.

Too often we look around us for solutions.
Look within as well.

You have a choice in your own destiny.

There are NO magic bullets.

koolkat77 - you are right, I do ear not as much as I should. Pretty much everyone around me are saying that I should eat more. I don't know why, I just don't want to... I eat alot of meat, chicken products, they are quite salty. Sometiems I eat alot of sandwitches/stuf like that, but I do try to eat as healthy as possible. But I don't eat regulary. Sometimes I only eat once or twice a day (if I eat once a day - I eat alot, and as I know it is not healthy...) Maybe you can PM me about how did you change your eating? I mean, what are you eating? (sounds kinda stupid) :)
Anak - yes, I know about all of these symptoms... But I can't help myself. Programming, computer science is the only thing that is interesting for me, and it is the only job in which I am interested in. Now I thought - sometimes, I do get stressed out (but like any other student dose, not more, not less). About 2 days ago I found out information about H20, so yes, I am trying to stay hydrated all the time. And about vitamins - currently I am using some: vitaminK1(30mikrog), vitaminE(10mg), there are bunch of others, like A, C, B1, B2, B6, D3...

Every body reacts differently. But we are no doctors and I suggest you see one and discuss it with him.

I myself spend about 8 hours per day in front of the screen (since years) and I do not have that problem. And I am 74 years old.

Anak - yes, I do understand that. I know, that forum members can't say whats wrong with me, and why that is, but I am just asking for some tips. I think if members had this problem - they know how to handle it :) When I was 15, I had full scan of pretty much everything (MRI of my brain, and so on.)(not because I had cancer, or some kind of disease, but because I am too short, so I wanted to get hormone treatment for that). They also checked my blood, but they said, that everything is fine.

Have you tried wearing glasses?

I had issues with dark circles forming under my eyes, I stare at a screen anywhere from 8-14 hours a day. I bought myself a pair of Gunnar glasses. They are marketed as "gaming eyewear" I noticed a difference immediately. The dark circles have almost completely disappeared after wearing them for almost a month. There are quite a few companies out there that make glasses for extended computer use. They may not remove the circles completely, but my eyes certainly feel a lot less "fuzzy" after a long day.

Hope this helps!

Since I am from Lithuania, the majority of men are much taller then me, so, in this country, I am quite short :)
I had these circles for years, but I don't think that they were so noticable, but starting from last year, they make big contrast on my face

It really dose, but as I heard, they cost a fortune, dont they? If it is not a secret, maybe you can say how much did you paid for them? And by the way, do you need any reciepe for them? Can you buy them online?

koolkat, food can be one factor. See this link: Acne: Causes - MayoClinic.com
Stress, worrying about them is another. Also check the tabs along the top, and the menus on each tab.

My apologies if I sounded a little harsh, but I succeeded in getting your attention. ;)
Just read over those links I posted, and see if anything rings a bell as to what you need to change.

When I was 15, I had full scan of pretty much everything (MRI of my brain, and so on.)(not because I had cancer, or some kind of disease, but because I am too short, so I wanted to get hormone treatment for that). They also checked my blood, but they said, that everything is fine.
It sounds like you have been seen by various doctors, and everything checks out okay.
170cm tall at 18 is not abnormal, hell, I was only 180cm when I was 18, now that I am 60 I am down to 175cm.

Does any of your older relatives like Parents, Aunts or Uncles have dark circles? It could be inherited.

JMH's post is very poignant: http://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/201994-health-issues-because-computer.html#post1696584

It sounds like you have been seen by various doctors, and everything checks out okay.
170cm tall at 18 is not abnormal, hell, I was only 180cm when I was 18, now that I am 60 I am down to 175cm.
180cm is absolutely normal height, (at least in Lithuania) :)

Does any of your older relatives like Parents, Aunts or Uncles have dark circles? It could be inherited.
Not really. My sister is 27 years old, and she spends about ~5hours in front of pc (As I know), and she doesn't have any problems with dark circles, and she never even had. And by the way, if it was inherited, I would have had these circles since I was born, but I got them after I started spending alot of time in fron of computer screen.

Is your life in balance?
Diet, sleep, relaxation time, exercise, work time, socialization, "play time." etc.
Offcourse it is not. When you are about to finish your school, it is very difficult to balance your time, because you need to preprare your self for final exams. I gues I should excercise a bit more :)

Hang in there, and try to relax, us View attachment 187951(Lithuanians) have to stick together.
No, I have never been there, but I would like to.
