[Q] Bandwidth shedding over WiFi?

Is there a way of making sure 2 PCs get 50/50 of the internet speed? Kind of like a hack that ensures you get 50% of the bandwidth.
My brother keeps on stealing most of the bandwidth.
Any help please im going crazy.

There are 3rd party apps (net limiter) that will limit his to a preset number

Whose router is it? And if you dont have access to his phone or PC how would you do the registry change you asked for.

We can only help with legal and self owned system/problems. We have no way of knowing if this is his system or yours.

I dont believe it is illegal per se but I do think you should discuss it with your parents.

We just have to state that disclaimer (because of site rules) if there is any doubt about ownership, etc.

If we knew more about your networking setup we might be able to help you more.

Well Since your parents dont want to get involved and it is their stuff, there isnt much we can do.

If you have a broadband connection he shouldnt be interfering with you unless he is a massive down-loader.

What does the ISP say they are supplying you with?
(use speedtest.net to find our actual download speed)

There is nothing you can do on your computer or phone. As long as you don't have access to the router you're basically SOL
Your best bet would be grabbing the router manual and get reading. Look for something like QoS (Quality of Service)
If your router has such setting you can prioritize transmissions based on port, protocol or even Mac address.


The downside of this is, that on an average router QoS only works upstream (concerning data sent from your device to the ISP)
