Probably need to re-install your wifi driver. go to support.dell.com and find the correct one for you system, download, and install it.

BTW you dont have "350 Gb" of memory, you may have a 350 GB hard drive.

Jairam, A big welcome to you to the Sevenforums!

If it isn't too late, may I recommend reinstalling and following this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html

Make sure you read the warning first (found via the link provided as well)!
warnsmall.png
Warning

Remember that you need a valid qualifying previous version of Windows to use a Upgrade Windows 7, and to stop using (or uninstall) the qualifying OS while you have the upgrade installed. Microsoft only made doing a clean install from a upgrade Windows 7 possible to make it more convenient so you do not have to reinstall both the old Windows version (ex: Vista) and upgrade to Windows 7 everytime you needed or wanted to reinstall.

If you do not have a valid qualifying previous version of Windows, then you are violating the terms of Microsoft's Windows 7 End User License Agreement and could get your product key number invalidated by Microsoft. Plus, it is considered illegal.

For more about this, please see: Microsoft SMB Community Blog : Regardless of what any hack says, a Windows 7 Upgrade is an Upgrade. What you need to know.

:info: Let me know if you do not want to perform this method for any reason.

Well, I am a little confused.:) The OP might have purchased a full retail version as well. He upgraded his lappie from Vista to Windows 7. That is what he may be meaning.

@ sriram16396, What is the exact version of your new media? Is it an upgrade version or full retail version?

sriram16396,
Like Zigzag said, you will need to download the right drivers in order to connect. LAN connection and wireless connections each have their own drivers that need to be installed. Your motherboard's manufacturer would have your LAN, and your network card's manufacturer would have your network card adapter. You can download the software onto a USB drive and install it to your computer without the internet connection, or use the CDs that came with the computer.

On this support site, input your lappie's Service Tag which you can find on the back of your laptop, and download all the drivers for it. ( In fact you should have done all this before you started your install)

After installing all the drivers, check that everything is OK in Device Manager.

BTW, did you make the Recovery CDs beforehand so that you can restore it to the original state - in case you encounter difficulties in activating your new install?

( I am still not clear what the multi-user media is - my ignorance of course - and so cannot say for sure whether your activation will be successful )

1. Your Windows 7 should be on a DVD, not a CD.

2. You say your friend gave you a multi-user version of Windows 7. The only multi-user version that I know of is the Windows Family Pack.

3. Is it genuine and is it being used on another computer at the present time?

4. Which version of Windows are you trying to install and is it the same version as that of Vista that came with the laptop?

5. A quick look at Dell's support site reveals that there are no Windows 7 drivers for your laptop, only Windows Vista.

......... 5. A quick look at Dell's support site reveals that there are no Windows 7 drivers for your laptop, only Windows Vista.

After reading this I made a quick search.

There still seems to be some hope for the OP on the drivers front.

One user in Yahoo answers " I've got windows 7 installed on my studio 17 and it's working pretty good. Used the vista 64-bit drivers from the dell site and everything except bluetooth is working like it should. Working on the bluetooth issue atm but not really a big problem for me." Windows 7 on Dell Studio 17? - Yahoo! Answers

The OP may also check the device manufacturer's website for Windows 7 drivers.

So it should be possible, I guess, for the OP to have a working Windows 7 install, provided he has a valid copy with a valid license.

You can automatically get drivers from windows update:

You can check Windows Update at any time to see if it found new drivers and icons for your hardware, especially if you recently installed a new device. If you want to have Windows Update automatically check for the latest drivers and icons, here's how:
  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button
    4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_818.jpg
, and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the name of your computer, and then click Device installation settings.
  3. Click Yes, do this automatically (recommended), and then click Save changes.
    18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b_48.jpg
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
If Yes is already selected, click Cancel to close the dialog box.

If you let Windows automatically download drivers and information about your devices, your hardware is more likely to work properly.

This is the broadcom driver right from Dell's website for your computer if you prefer the manual method: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers...rFileFormats?DriverId=WJ46P&FileId=2731109813
