PC connected to TV........no sound on TV.

Hi folks,

This is the first attempt to watch a movie playing on PC. I connected the PC to the TV via an HMDI cable. I have no sound coming out from the TV's speakers. I would like some advice on this please.

Hello barbarossa,

You have to go into the sound control panel and make hdmi the default sound device, and make sure you have all graphics card drivers installed

What do you mean? Your graphics card doesn't have HDMI ports but your tv does? Or do you mean the graphics card isn't outputting a signal?

You can get an HDMI to DVI adapter, but then the sound wouldn't be able to travel down the line, you'd have to connect through the audio-in/out green port.

That or a new graphics card that does support it

Usually you need the HD Audio driver associated with your graphics card if you are using HDMI, I can't find your model on Asus website, but if you go here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download you can probably use the auto model finder and download the Graphics driver

You need to be more clear on your problem. It's gone from no sound to no HDMI.

Does the TV appear in your Device Manager as a Monitor?

Right click a blank area of your desktop, click Screen Resolution. Does the TV appear as a Display?
