I looked in speccy as it tells that S.M.A.R.T not supported. what does it mean ?

All modern HDDs support SMART, but it needs to be enabled in the BIOS. As you have upgraded your computer, it is quite possible that this needs enabling. By default, SMART is generally disabled in the BIOS.

SATA3 : NIL
SATA4: LITEON DVD

shud it be in SATA 1 and 2 , either than 2 and 4 ??

Refer to the motherboard manual.

Chapter 2: BIOS information

Enter the BIOS by pressing Delete when you power your system up. You should now see the main menu, as shown in Chapter 2.3. The option you require is IDE Configuration, and the sub-option is SMART Monitoring [Auto]. By default, this is set as Auto on this motherboard, however explicitly set it to Enabled and then save changes by pressing F10.

Reboot, and see if SMART is now available.

Edit: As regards the ports in use, it should make no difference. They're all created equal. I've had to do that in the past, purely and simply because of the location of some of the sockets (they were obscured when a graphics card was installed).

Install and run Crystal Disk Info. Post a maximised image of the screen when its running.

Ok. I'm not sure why Speccy won't read the disks SMART data...perhaps an incompatibility problem?

The only issue I see is the Reallocated Sectors Count caution - its not neccessarily critical at this stage, unless you are experiencing other disk related problems. Run a chkdsk /R from a command prompt to mark the bad sectors so no data is written to them, and thereafter run Crystal Disk Info occasionally - say monthly - and note any changes in the values for Reallocated Sector Count.

It` all about the hardware, Pentium 4 or Pentium D`s temps won`t even show up in SPECCY. Still a good tool if you need it.

Hard Disk Sentinel is a great tool.
