Hi fam, I havea couple of hard drives monitoring softwares, HDDlife pro, Acronis drive monitor.

When I look at the health and performance status, it says 90%

But last time I checked it was 98% if I remember well,
not sure it was 98 but what I mean is that is goes down.

Last time I checked was a month ago or maybe a little more, so that mean the HDDs (all of them) have dropped in performance real quick

If I lose 5% each month they will be dead quick ! (Those are 6TBs...)

My config is = The 3 HDDs are in the computer case with a fan blowing on them keeping the temp at around 33-35 , under 40

My torrent software is writing on one HDD the others are for backup
I transfer the finished downloads to the other HDDs , simple as that
Many files are still on the "main" HDD (the one for torrents)
This "main" HDD that I use for downloads is quite loaded right now(200GB free) but the others have 2TB free or 800GB free on 6TB

My questions:

- Why are they losing performance

- and how can I keep the best performance for my HDDs as long as possible

Note: hddlife is showind this degradation in performance but Acronis is showing 100%)

I tried putting the PC on sleep to save on the HDDs life but I can't get the PC to wake because I have wireless mouse and keyboard, and the "use this device to wake" in device manager is not working

Thanks

On SSD's you have a life degradation as the clusters dies due to writing cycles.
On HDD it doesn't happen.
Maybe the low health and performance status is due to fragmentation. Run Defrag (%windir%\system32\dfrgui.exe) and see what happens.
