I have a hp mini 210, running windows 7.
I went to the hp driver website, but the correct driver wont install.
and other drivers ive tried arent working.
please can someone tell me where to get a thing as simple as a working wifi driver?:(

thanks

p.s. ive tried hp forums, they are about as usefull as a chocolate kettle.

update. its definately the correct driver, and i managed to install it, but its still isnt working.
it keeps saying no connections are available.
yet if i boot into my xp partition, it connects to wifi with no problem.

Its not working right.
maybesome other driver is clashing with it?
i noticed it got mistaked for bluetooth or something, and was turjing on bluetooth when it was supposed to turn on wifi.

i really dont know.
please help someone..

Dam* niggles will get you every time o.0

You will want to use the 'official' driver. There are all kinds of mini-210 hp PCs: HP Support & Drivers | United States - find yours, make sure if your computer is 64 bit, you get the 64bit driver; and if it is 32bit, get the 32bit (or x86) driver.

After you download it, go into control panel and remove any wireless adapter driver software you might have, and then install the software you just downloaded. All you should have to do is find your network and connect to it, entering in a single password.

If this doesn't work, let me know

You're welcome. Windows updte would have been part of a group of next suggestions, there are many compatability issues, etc. that are resolved through it.

Also, if you would like to optimize Win7, I have a link in my signature that you might enjoy ;)

thanks...
but i spoke to soon...
its not working again.
more updates knocked it out.
i fully updated my windows 7, uninstalled the wifi driver THEN installed the 'Correct' driver from the HP website, but it wouldnt even install.

this driver is just incredibly unstable.

maybe its becasue this netbook came with windows 7 starter, with a whole load of extra junk added on by HP.
I guess that driver only works with that set up? maybe.
If thats the case, my netbook is rendered useless now that ive formatted and installed windows 7.

Code:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01995781&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=uk&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=4123503
there are the specs..

ive tried to install the correct driver, but it isnt working....
if any clever soul can help, please do...
im at a total loss again.

I have a feeling that windows 7 maybe trying to 'help' by installing bluetooth drivers on my wifi.
when i turn on my wifi, windows installs blue tooth stuff.
I sometimes thought this was windows 7's achilles heel.
Tries to help, but often installs the wrong drivers...
just a thought.

So, we have a double issue.
!. my 'proper' driver wont work
2. i think windows is trying to hard to help install drivers where they are not wanted - thus getting in the way of the driver that did actually work for a while.

but...
3. I managed to stop th ebluetooth drivers beign installed, but my wifi still doestn work

i see little reason for this.
its actually ************ me off now.
netbook cost £330
windows 7 cost £170. (though im using a mates.. but still)
£500 worth of equipment and it cant connect to wifi.

jeez, i can get wifi on a £10 phone.

permission to SMASH something please

found this aswell
Code:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-Home/HP-Mini-210-Broadcom-Wireless-Disconnects-on-Windows-7-32bit/td-p/226181/page/2

may aswell just give up
b*****ds £500 and they cant even give a working wireless between them

Mystic,

It may require a little patience to get this thing sorted ;)

Question: Do you or do you not want bluetooth installed on your PC? If you don't, you can disable it by going into your services (type 'services.msc' without quotes into the start search) and disabling 'bluetooth'. That should stop any bluetooth drivers from loading.

Try this - Download Revo Uninstaller Free: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems. Use it to remove ALL wireless drivers you might have on your system. In addition, you can freely remove any other program you want using this uninstaller (Don't, however, uninstall any of the windows updates or other drivers listed). Even programs that come pre-installed with the windows software are perfectly safe to remove. After that, go into your network and connections control panel and on the left menu there should be something mentioning wireless (wireless profiles, i believe). Click it, and delete all profiles you see listed. Attempt to install the wireless driver again. If this time it doesn't work, there is a high chance that some other software is conflicting with it. Attempt to google this to see if anyone else has a similar problem of certain drivers or programs conflicting with wirless software, and see if you have any such programs installed.

Furthermore, please post a screenshot of your Control Panel's "Uninstall" program list so I can see what programs you have installed.

I myself have all windows updates installed, so I don't think it is Windows updates' fault in this situation, but don't rule it out because there could always be rare conflicts in special cases. Hardware is not guaranteed to work right out of the box. Consider if you would like to send the computer back to them for RMA

However, in your case, because your computer was bought from HP and there has been no computer recall of your particular model (I don't think), you should be able to safely assume it is software related. Finding which software is the tricky part.

Hi, its 'HP Bluetooth Module'.
If i unsinstall the bluetooth drivers, and also disbale bluetooth services,
when i press my wifi button, it still installs the bluetooh drivers again.
But I noticed, if i am in device manager before i press the wifi, then press it,
the first thing i noptice is a new driver starts up under the 'other' category.
the driver is called 'HP Bluetooth Module'.
Thats what seems to be starting up and putting the bluetooth drivers in over and over.
SO, I've decided to do a fresh install of windows 7.
And this time, only download the wifi driver and tne ether net driver.
all other wireless or internet stuff, i will not install.
lets hope this time it goes well

Yes, you can do that. Might be able to help you if you posted a pic of your installed programs. But either way, let me know how it goes.

HI
Well, I tried it, and only installed the wifi driver (the only one i can find that worked for a bit lasttime, as the one on hp's website does NOT even install.)
And alas, this wifi driver installs the bluetooth module automatically.. and i cant change the options and tell it not too.

This isnt going to work.
I need a different wifi driver that does the job.
But where in gods name can i get one?
As for installed programmes?
i have none, this is a fresh instalation.
all i have is avast , and dropbox
thats it.

But this just isnt working
god...
please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!:((((((((((((((((..

In fact, im going to reinistall windows 7 yet AGAIN
and im not goin to touch ANYTHING
until someone can give me a clue of what to do, and how to do it regarding this bloody wifi driver.

Did your computer come with a CD with drivers on it? Use the older version from there.

What is your computer's exact name? There are all kinds of "mini 210's", which is yours?

Not entirely sure how the bluetooth and wireless network drivers are connected. Perhaps it requires bluetooth to run? Have you tried enabling bluetooth service and all its drivers?

Do windows 7 starters come with full DVDs for reinstallation? How are you reinstalling?

I may have come to the end of my knowledge on this one..

Call HP. Bug them and you might be able to send it in for repair if it is new. Keep bugging them until they give you what you want (God bless America)

No CDs at all? wow.

There is no harm in attempting to install the Bluetooth driver as well as the wifi. I cannot locate your computer using "mini 210-1011ea". Did you get it from the US/are you located in the US? Could be that this is a problem, as drivers are per-region.
This is what I found using "mini 210-1011", is it one of these?:

I agree with that.

But, going here for the drivers: Software & Driver Downloads HP Mini 210-1011EA PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English)
You will notice that there are at least 9 different networking drivers. Did you try them all? :p

Now, even I don't know which is the right one, but I think it should be one of these:
Ralink 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter HP Mini 210-1011EA PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English),
Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 HP Mini 210-1011EA PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English),
or Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 HP Mini 210-1011EA PC - HP technical support (United Kingdom - English)

Might as well uninstall the others and keep trying new ones in that list, but start with these three!

Good luck!

hmm
the thing is, when i put one in, it stays in, and keeps reinstalling the bluetooth along with it.. i think..
im tired of keep having to put fresh windows 7 in...
but maybe i will have one more try
i dont think any of them will work anyway..

most of them are for other specific stuff, i think only the first one is just a standard wifi driver/
