I believe in them since there are galaxy's out there that have a thousand (or more) of years of a head start on us. Our galaxy, on the scale of cosmic things, is actually quite young. The chance that's we're the only intelligent life in the universe is not only slim, but also a pretty disturbing thought if we're as good as it gets...... :sarc:

ps The faster than light anomaly is not exactly 'much faster', but would apparently allow time travel although it is still within the realm of experimental error so I wouldn't be too confident about the result just yet.
