Have been having problems with IE9 dropping in and out for the last few days and read a Google that said something about a virus being the cause.

Ran MBAM and it came up with PUP.Bundleinstaller.Somoto - have got rid of it but cannot find any reference to it via Google search - only PUP.Bundleinstaller.OI so am wondering how I got this thing as I am usually very careful browsing.

Probably Its a name changing trojan. If no hits in Google, that is the most usual reason. You will be very surprised. I clicked on Google a few days ago an Security Essentials warned me of a virus. They have many ways to get to you.

You may want to do a Google advanced search for "PUP.Bundleinstaller.OI" (or whatever) limiting the site to "malwarebytes.org"

Here is ONE link I found you can look at...

search for "PUP.Bundleinstaller.OI" (without quotes) in the thread.

Thanks Richard I think what made me a bit surprised is my security didn't pick it up or maybe I missed an alert perhaps?

Anyway I have those things on board except Win Patrol so should be good now

Am really getting the fly buys now - have uninstalled IE9 and tried to reinstall it and will it go there is no ruddy way.

Thanks Guy sounds like the little rotter I did get rid of the ware this am with Malwarebytes but my IE problems continue - had to uninstall and then install it via a stick and my other machine. So am going to do a scan with my security them run that Norton one and maybe one or two of the other one off scanners.

Do you remember the last program/application that you downloaded? It may have come bundled with that PUP.

Let's see if DDS shows us what's going on with IE

Download DDS from one of these links:
Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3

• Disable any script blocking protection
• Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
• When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
• Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

After uninstalling Somoto, see if disabling all but Kaspersky (from list above), stops connection problems with IE. You can re-enable one at a time, except Comodo.
Kaspersky and Comodo are going to fight with each other

Thanks Jaycee I only runKIS WOT and Do Not Track on this machine I b=never run two ISS;s alongside eacg other.

I did disable the Do Not Track and it stopped the problem.

I then reinstalled IE9 and out of interest I enabled Don Not Track again but the problem did not start up.

To now everything seems to be going ok - having said that it will probably start up again (better touch wood) so maybe a glitch in IE?

This is not going to help your situation, but just a FYI.

I run the paid version of Malwarebytes and it blocked a website and quarantined PUP.BundleInstaller.Somoto at the same time. The problem is, I can't for the life of me remember the website I was attempting to open. It was on February 27th according to MBAM, and I think I accessed it via a link from Google.

No help for you, but it is something that is being passed around now.

Ok cato and Jaycee like you cato I can't remember what I was downloading but in any event I enabled Do Not Track and I have it back so I am guessing it is that app so am going to block it again and see what eventuates.
