im sorry if im at the wrong section. i just don't know where to place this.

im having problem with making a recovery disc. my windows 7 detects my dvd burner's driver but the main device is not.
i tried to use virtual clone drive hoping that it works. but no luck because it's not detected as a dvd burner. daemon tools lite which was said to work on win 7 doesn't work too. windows 7 says it's not compatible upon starting installation.:(

botttom line is. can anyone share me their copy of windows 7 build 7100 recovery disc? any hosting site will do. thank you so much. :)

Are you referring to the Windows 7 7100 RC ISO?

Also, as far as burning a "recovery disk", windows is not detecting your DVD burner?

Don't use daemon tools to mount ISOs, use MagicDisk
Mount ISO Files - Freeware MagicDisc Download

If you want to burn images, use ImgBurn.

http://www.imgburn.com/

Windows may not be detecting your burner correctly, i have had this happen on old burners in older apps. With IMGBurn you can update your firmware on your DVD drive, which then it may detect it correctly after updating and rebooting.

in IMGBurn
Select "Write image file to Disk"
use the 'Tools' -> 'Drive' -> 'Check For Firmware Updates

Ok. I am just not sure what you are trying to do. So I gave a response on the many ways I took your question. What do you mean recovery disks?

im talkig about creating a system repair disc. im trying to make it directly to a virtual drive. and not mounting it. after creating it. ill make it bootable on a usb. errr. can i burn t directly on a usb? ill try it later.. hehe

*update:
even image burn cannot detect my burner. hmm.. if it install the driver, i can be sure it's compatible with win7 right? how will i know which is my dvd driver in the device manager list if im planning to uninstall it and hope it will reinstall fine next time i plug it?

oh wait, you may not have your chipset drivers installed. It is a USB DVD burner and the ports aren't working that you plug it in to?

yes it is a USB dvd drive. ports are working fine. i tried it in all usb port but it still doesn't work. i tried the manufacturer site but there's nothing useful there. im afraid it doesnt support windows 7. will VISTA system repair disc work? i used it to fix my vista from near death. that's why i really want to make one for windows 7. hehe.

do you guys have any idea what i can use to copy my dvd burner's working driver from my vista to windows 7 on the same machine? thanks ^_^

You could maybe get a 4 GB or more USB flash drive or a card reader and SDHC card (pretty inexpensive if you don't have one already) and just follow one of the many tutorials (Google) to make it bootable. Then copy the files from a W7 ISO over to the USB drive and basically use the windows 7 install disk on the USB flash drive or card as your repair disk. I believe that should work quite well.
