<ASK>Windows 7 FPP; Activation no.of times limit? Online act. blocked?

Dear everyone, like the title suggest...

is there a limit on ho w many times you do a clean install and online activation on your windows 7 FPP?

because... the weirdest thing just happened to me, i formatted my win7 6 times in the last 15 days... same computer, and.... the last time i tried to activate online, it failed.

The error code said something like... "Activation code cannot be used on the server something..., you have to buy new product key something..."

called the MS CS and all is well, but... im just wondering, if i ever do a clean reinstall again... do i have to call MS CS again...?

Is my FPP product key blocked forever from online activation...?

Activating by phone is supposedly okay. It's just... Indonesia and customer service is like your worst service nightmare times 10.

It's a stroke-inducing experience.

Hello Fajar,

It was only because you activated it so many times in a short time period with the same key number, and got red flagged.

You should be fine and able to do the normal online activation if it's not activated again so soon. If so, you can always do a phone activation again. :)

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Your experience of MS's CS line isn't too far from reports I've heard elsewhere, although usually I've found them to be pretty good (I'm in the UK, but first-line calls seem to end up in Calcutta or similar).

Did you actually use the proper Activation Telephone number, or a general CS number?
(Indonesia number for activation is either 001805657668 or 08001201201 (toll free))

I'm not sure why you re-installed so many times.

I suggest creating a backup image as soon as you get a clean install with Macrium, Acronis, etc.

Then you can restore the backup image instead of re-installing Windows and having to reactivate.

When I build a new PC I create a backup image and restore it even before activating windows so I can be sure the process works...

yeah activation number... and this one 001805657668 dont work.

When I build a new PC I create a backup image and restore it even before activating windows so I can be sure the process works...

the first time, i installed 32bit windows... (which is common here, very few ppl install 64bit windows), then i noticed that the cd driver only good with 64 bit windows, duh.

thats 2 installations.

asus IRST driver doesnt work with the current bios, need to downgrade bios, i dont wanna do that and uninstalling the driver seems unappealing to new system.

thats 3.

got infected by ramnit kido and virut from family's external hdd.

thats 4.

smthn like that

yeah. will use macrium FREE. thankyou for the suggestion

You're welcome, and i understand...

Also, you can use Windows for a minimum of 30 days before you have to activate it.

So you can use that time to make sure everything is ok.
