Hello,

I have the latest macbook pro 15 inch. I have installed windows 7 build 7100 on it via bootcamp. Most things are working but the box is running very hot. At idle I see 75C on the GPU and 60C on the processor. The fans will not come on until 80C. I don't want to run my computer at 80C. I talked to Apple and they told me that there was no way to change the EFI settings. They also told me that Windows 7 had no way to manage the fan settings via Apple's EFI. Is this true?

I downloaded speedfan and it was not able to control the fans. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution? Is this an Apple problem or a Microsoft Issue?

Hey first 80c under load might not be more than temp max for the cpu. that apple could verify. under load I get 70C> expecially if im mutlitasking. As far as I know its neither apples "fault" nor microsoft, just the limitation of hardware under bootcamp. let us know if you get info we dont get much info abt win 7 on a mac

just out of curiosity, what are the thresholds for the mac end? When does the fan kick on? What is normal idle temps?

Lubbo's

Unfortunately, while Lubbo's loads just fine, it doesn't pick up either of the fan's speeds, the CPU temp, or the GPU temps.

Lubbo's works great for me on a 17" Macbook Pro with an i5 core. My thighs were being slow-roasted before, but now they are much cooler. You should try a new version if you tried it before and it didn't work. It's been updated as recently as 6/13/2011. You can get it here.
