Have found my fix for WLM

WLM lost the plot yet again a few days ago and I have wasted a lot of time trying to get onto the Live people for what it was worth to send me a reset mail to my newly created hotmail address only to find they kept sending me a password reset for my hotmail account - which of course is not what I wanted.

Now the hotmail in IE does not let you see the message in and let you compose a reply in the same screen - very annoying and I thought of ditching the whole damn thing.

Until I hit on an idea - which I should have thought of long before - I just added my hotmail account - which I had made up in desperation - to WLM made it the top one transferred all the mail from the account that would not work and the deleted it. Which means that somewhere some nuisance emailers are sending rubbish to a vacant lot:sarc:

Finally I have my mail back only remains to contact the important sites / people and all is well with the world.

So if you are as sick of WLM as I am or was that is a way out of the wretched mess they created.

So the problem was
1) a bad email address, or
2) a good email address that could not be set up properly in WLM?

How did the "problem" manifest itself?

I don't know Ron the address I was using for many years has done this on loads of occasions and for no apparent reason the app would just sign me in auto then want a Live sign in and I used to be able to recover the password by reset easily but not this time.

The people at Live are something else taking 24 hours to send me a reset link only for it to be to reset my hotmail account. Either they are just plain obstructive , thick, or don't really give a ship.

So I hit on using the hotmail address as the only account in the WLM and to absolutely blunt it beats the crap out of the other address I originally had - I can send large files and pics without fear of a message two hours later telling me the file or pics were too large to be sent.

I use WLM because it gives me the two pane view of the incoming and the reply I am typing and that is all - plus I have all my contacts stored in it of course.

could you use two different browsers ,one with the inbox open and another with mail you are composing, a nuisance but it may work.

Hiyya BB haven't seen you around for a while - hope you're keeping well - mate I tried that having two tabs open but it was like you say a real PITA and this way well it is so much easier - and quicker now because of the lack of nonsense with upload limits

I just copied all my mail over to the new account and deleted the wretched thing.

For contacts well my other desktops and the two lappys have those I can copy at leisure - whatever that is :shock:LOL!! am a bit snowed under with friends and school machines at the moment and am planning the last biggish build (probably famous last words) but I just like doing it - retirement never looked so good

PS Wouldn't like a couple of Frankied XP's would you LOL!!
