so i forgot my admin password and am stuck with only being able to login with the guest account so Im limited on what I can do like I tried to change the sticky keys to the command prompt shortcut but I need the password in order to do that. also when I try to reset the password it asks for a floppy disk or a usb drive and when i put in the USB hard drive, nothing happens it still tells me to insert a usb hard drive. Please help I have a toshiba satellite with no recovery discs or anything. What can I do? I'm willing to wipe all data in order to get my laptop to work if i can't reset my password

Perhaps you can still create a set of "Factory Restore" dvd's from the on board Toshiba programs. Not sure if you need Admin status to do that.

You may also be able to access the Tobhiba Factory Recovery partition on the hard drive and do a full restore. This is accomplished by pressing certain keys at bootup. Check your user manual to find out what keys and what to do.

If you are talking about going to the boot menu and then choosing repair computer to factory settings, I've already tried that and it asks for the password

Why aren't you using the replace sticky keys trick?

You need a windows boot disc of some sort for that.

The windows 7 installation iso is around on the net.

Burn that to dvd - boot it up - when you see a window that says "Install Now", press shift+F10 - command prompt will come up - then do the sticky keys thing .

Slightly off topic and my two-penny bit on passwords. I think it is no use being paranoid about passwords. There may bad guys in the wild but mostly they don't target the lowly home user.

I have 4 hard to crack passwords that I use everywhere instead of managing hundreds of them. So far in over a decade I have not come to grief due to using only a few passwords everywhere. With just four passwords forgetting them is out of question. One of the four will always open up the box of treasures.

Well if someone ever figures out your password for at least one of your accounts, they now have the password to multiple accounts of yours. I remember seeing my friend putting in his email and password on his xbox, and one day I decided to mess with him by putting in that same email and password on facebook and sure enough, I was logged in his account and messed with his status lol a reason why I like to keep my passwords difficult
