Hello,
I have a Windows 7 Professional O.S. running on an OptiPlex 760 desktop. When I turn the machine on, it begins to load win7 and gets to a screen asking me to reset my password. "Your password has expired and must be changed." There is 1 blank entry box for my account password, a 2nd for the new password, and a third to confirm the new password.
When I try and update the password, it says "Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied." I can not get around this update password box. It even appears when I try and go into safe mode.
I do not have my administrative account visible, it is hidden.
Is there a way using the system recovery disk, or through Safe Mode recovery options recovery tools, where I can get to the command prompt where I can do the following?
From the CLI I would like to be able to either remove that user account password, or at least change and update that password so that I can log on.
Maybe even make my administrator account visible from the CLI, but I don't think I would get to the user accounts page that shows all the users at once at this point. So I really need to change that password.
Incidentally, that user account is a standard account with NO account password, and it is set to auto-login.
ANOTHER idea is that from the CLI instead of resetting the user password, I could go in and disable the feature that asks me to change my password because it has expired. Is there a way to do either of these?
Any other suggestions?
