Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers Windows 7

hmm mine picked it up as normal. In fact there was a message in wei informing me that I needed to run it again after the driver update.

Hi Nick,

Do you mean the message that states that your hardware has changed and that you need to re-run the assessment? If so, that is the message I got when I had first installed the driver, which is what I expected (and, indeed, the same message I have received from the tool upon every graphics driver update). The message did not appear after I had run the tool the first time. This is the first time that I have had to run the tool twice, and I haven't done anything different as regards the driver installation than what I normally do.

:) sorry! :/ but im bit edgy latly on win7 forums/trackers, when people always asking stupid **** about touched/untuched isos and activation. Im just sick that people dont bother to read before they ask for 30+th time already, thing is somewhere around 185.x, they combined Vista&Win7 drivers, so its always safe to assume they are compatible with both OSes, for the next time! :)

I had the 190.38 drivers install on my box...I have a 9800GTX+. With these drivers, my video card fan would speed up during gameplay...but would not spin back down once I was out of the game and temps of the video card were cooling off. I went back to the 186.18 drivers and the problem went away for me.

I think it's best to skip these 190.38 drivers at this point.

Sounds easy, except even when controlling with eVGA precision the fan speeds up during the game and doesn't slow down. It's a bit of a pain to have to fire up eVGA precision at the end of every game, turn off auto fan speed, manually set it lower, wait for it to slow down and then set it back on automatic. With the older version of the drivers, this wasn't necessary.

I've been using eVGA Precision, both in Vista 64 and in W7.
With the RTM build I cannot install it properly.
I keep getting an error message about the NVAPI wrapper failing. Pity cos I really like it for fan speed and temp monitoring.:(

Had the same issue regardless of driver. Got an bios update from XFX ...
It's something with the original 9800GTX+ that is not right.
Not a driver issue even though different versions work differntly by accident

Strange I am also using the new 190.40 drivers and the clocks are still jumping although not as bad as they were with 190.38.

Hi Folks.
I installed the 190.38 drivers and noticed the clocks jumping around. I then went on to try the 190.40.
I notice that if I do absolutely nothing the 190.40s show a steady line at about half my set clock speeds.
If I do something, in this case running my mouse pointer along rocket dock so the icons zoom in and out, the up and down jaggies start.
Here are some pics to illustrate the point. First pic 190.38 with nothing happening, second two pics 190.40 with me running along the rd icons.
I haven't tried either in games yet.
What's going on? Are these drivers bad?

Cheers, John:)

ps also note that my gpu temp is now missing in the display with 190.40 and I don't know how to get it back

Aren't the clocks just slowing down to consume less power and resources when it's really not needed? I'd assume this is a power saving feature...like Intel SpeedStep.

Gaming seems to be great on these drivers and I haven't had performance issues anywhere with them, the only issue is as you have noticed with the clocks not remaining stable when idle.
