I took the chance and placed the new DVD in the drive and installed it. I cannot remember all that happened, but at a timeI was asked if I wantet to 'format' C: and erase the partition on it, and I said yes thanks, and everything went just fine.
But thanks for all your comments!
Best regards
Niels

No need to guess. Better to be fully in command of your reinstall so you get it perfect, then after setup can save a backup image to use in place of future reinstalls.

To get it perfect follow these steps: Reinstalling Windows 7

I should have made a disk right after the installation:eek:
Shouldn't I?

I have read many post about re-installing Windows 7 on a new hard drive with the Recovery media supplied by the manufacturer, in my case Acer. I made set of recovery discs immediately after starting my Aspire One AOD257 Netbook for the first time. I even shelled out $20.00 for an Official Acer Set of media.
What I do not understand is why I cannot makethis work. First you must know I replaced the Acer hard drive (250GB) with an OCZ SSD (120GB). I have an external USB DVD which I can boot from, this option is in my BIOS. I inserted disk one, and followed the boucing ball. After the 3rd disk, I removed it as instructed, reboot the Acer netbook going into the BIOS first and setting the boot order back to SSD 1st, but I get an error, no operating system.
I'd prefer a default factory reinstallation, with drivers and apps, but if all else fails, I have a Universal Windows 7 32-bit Installation disk, and the activation keycode on the netbook. Before I give up on the factory re-installation to a new SSD, maybe I am doing something wrong. Do I need to create multiple partitions first? The Acer HDD had 3 partitions: 13GB Recovery partition, 100MB System Partition and 220GB Acer C: main Windows partition. All are healthy.
I have an Acer desktop with 6 SATA ports. I was wondering if I could do something using the desktop to facilitate getting my Windows 7 installation over to the SSD. I am thinking about booting from a CD with something other than Windows, and cloning. Would this create the 3 partitions of the SSD. Isn't this what a clone is, and exact copy of the source to the target? I have read that the newer cloning software can deal with the different size issue. Can anyone better explain this to me. I'd also like to know why the media I purchase from Acer won't install on a new disk drive?

I'm suspicous about why you're going back into BIOS after 3rd disk completes to change boot order. It would be better to leave it and just remove the disk. The reason is that a No OS error sounds like it's starting up to the wrong HD, and isn't any kind of error you'd get after just completing a 3 disk recovery.

Unplug all other HD's, leave the HD set first to boot and this time trigger the disks if necessary using the Acer F12 key at boot. But these disks should autostart on their own and prompt for the next one to autostart.

Run a quick Diskpart Clean Command to clean the bootsector before starting again.

And yes, the clean reinstall is a vastly superior install, nothing to feel you have to settle for.

NEED HELP ASAP! I'm running Windows 7 on Dell Inspiron n4010 and computer is just now over a year old. Every month or so, a new feature keeps crashing on it...First it was the Dell Webcam, then the touchpad started acting up, then the wireless Internet went bad, and now the audio doesn't work at all. Please help me find out what is going on as I use this computer for my job and am desperate to fix these issues. Thank you!

Is your data backed up?

Have you made recovery disks?

Have you done anything yet to resolve any of these problems?

Which is the most pressing problem?

Have you done virus and malware scans recently?

Work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 especially establishing a clean boot, checking logs for repeat errors, system resources for problem solutions, test System file integrity, run Disk Check.

The steps work up to a Repair Install as a last resort before running Dell Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstalling Win7 which is a superior install without the factory bloatware and duplicate utilities with better versions built into Win7:
Dell Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Hi there,
I have not backed anything up yet or made any disks. I am currently out of town with my computer without access to my Windows disks to try to reinstall.

I uninstalled the webcam and audio drivers and reinstalled them and it fixed the audio problem (which was the most pressing problem) Although the audio is somewhat fixed, it will only play through headphones but not through external speakers.

I bought a USB wireless internet adapter for now but could really use the USB it's using for other things while working so... I need to correct the wireless internet problem if possible.

As far as webcam, I don't use it so I don't really care much about that.

If you can help me troubleshoot the wireless issue, that would be great! :D

Yes, I've done all scans on it and it shows there aren't any issues??

I know little about wireless and webcams.

My inclination would be to start a thread in the sound and audio section to see if you can fix the audio issue.

I wouldn't drive myself crazy with that or devote to much time to it. If I didn't succeed, I'd move toward a repair install, recovery to factory condition, or clean install. That's why I asked about backups and if you have made recovery disks.

BootMGR missing

Hi Guys,

Finally i got a solution of this problem.

My windows 7 got messed up because of linux(Mandriva Linux) installation. I am getting BootMGR missing error. Note: windows repair was not working and i am getting GRUB linux selection on boot.

I used universal USB installer and created a bootable flash drive. I used it to fix my MBR. but still i was getting BootMGR missing.
Luckily i am didn't get GRUB linux bootloader this time.

Then I created a bootable flash drive using windows 7 home premium ISO and tried to repair windows.
WOrked like a charm.

Hope it will help others who are facing similar problem like me.

I have to test my windows now.
