I have a recent ASUS B43S and experience a very strange situation that I can't get fixed.

When I try to connect, I always get this "Windows was unable to connect to ...".

It's very strange because I can easely connect to this given network from:
- Mac OS computers,
- Ubuntu computers
- my smartphone,
- other Windows computers
- and even the SAME computer using Ubuntu...

I previously connected my computer to other networks using both Ubuntu and Win7...

Troubleshooting tools doesn't help me :/

Here is what appears:
****************************

(of course, I don't understand the "Security and Authentication: Fail" because I do use the same pwd I used with all the other devices or with the Ubuntu boot)

Thank you very much for your help !!!

The security fail is probably because the security settings in your Wireless profile in Windows doesn't match the security of the wireless device you are trying to connect too. Windows 7 like's to use WPA2 with AES encryption but can use other security and encryption if required.

You should find out which security and encryption is being used where you need to connect then make adjustments to the wireless profile for that connection in Windows.

You can get to the wireless profiles by going to the Network and Sharing center and then look to the left side of screen.

Possible, it seems to be a WPA-PSK encryption...
How do you require Win7 to use such encryption?

How do you require Win7 to use such encryption?

WPA-PSK means WPA security "pre shared key"

WPA2-PSK is a newer standard. The encryption can be either TKIP or AES, AES being preferred and is made to work with the 802.11n standard.

You need to figure out which ones are being used by who ever you are trying to connect to then input those settings into your Wireless profile for that connection, it's not automatic sometimes and requires manual input.

Go to Network and Sharing center in Windows, look to the left column where you see Manage Wireless Profiles. There will be a profile for each different place you are trying to connect too, then make adjustments there to match which every security and encryption is being used.

Well, thank you but still... It doesn't want to connect :/

The encryption key type is WPA-Personal AES and Win7 is still unable to connect...

If you can post a screen shot of your ipconfig/all I can take a closer look at what might be going on there.

I see some possible problems here.

First, on the problem machine, go into Device Manager and disable both of the Microsoft WIFI virtual adaptors you see there. These are famous for causing connection problems.

Second, On the problem machine, Save the file below then unzip and run the file, then reboot your machine. After rebooting see if you can connect to the wireless network, if not, post the ipconfig/all again please. :)

Ok you did disable the Msoft virual adaptors good there.

You aren't getting anything from the router here.

The tunnel adaptors aren't gone for some reason, did you run the file?

If you have any type of anti virus software installed like AVG, Eset or many others can cause wireless connection problems. Uninstall them usually fixes it.

I would also reinstall the driver for the wireless connection then go through the Wireless profile for this connection and make sure the settings match the ones in the router.

I did run the file but had some errors " The image file (...) is valid, but its type is for a machine type other than the current machine." while I did launch the ia64 file...

Then, I did not uninstall my antivirus (Antivir) because it worked perfectly on other network before...
I will try all that you said anyway... That's all that I have now !

Good deal BainGo, I figured it was a driver problem or virtual adaptor problem, so disabling virtual adaptor's and reinstalling the driver seemed like the obvious way to go.

Glad it wasn't the A/V because all too often that is the cause of the problem.
