I've been using Eset AV for many years since version 2. Now using the latest version. Very happy and satisfied with it. Not so sure about the Smart Security Suite, however. I'll probably wait for their firewall to get more mature before I consider switching from Comodo and Eset AV to Eset SS.

In the meantime, I'm very satisfied with the combo of Eset AV and Comodo for their Firewall only. Both native x64 apps and both have been rock solid on my 7 system, even though neither of them officially support it yet. The only issue I've had is when I upgrade to a new Windows 7 build. I have found it necessary to reinstall Eset and reconfigure Comodo each time I've done an upgrade, but that's no big deal to me. With Eset, one can export/save their Eset program settings to an XML file and it's a snap to re-import them after reinstalling Eset so it's just a few seconds really for me to reinstall Eset AV with all my customized settings intact.

Sorry, but those ratings are crap IMO. Commodo at #3? Their anti virus is awful. Quite frankly I would rather have a strong anti virus and a weaker firewall.

But giving ESET a 4% ranking...please...

the ratings have nothing to do with antivirus, these are firewall tests. perhaps you should read a bit more about what the scores mean...

I used to use Kaspersky Internet Security, but found KIS 2009 far too complicated to use. To be fair to Kaspersky they did refund me after nearly 2 months of using the software. I have switched to ESET and have never really had any problems since - now using it on Windows 7 RC

I've read numerous tests all over the net and ESET has never been ranked so low. Who are these guys anyway? And, they are the only ones who have ever ranked Online Armor Personal Firewall as #1 from any site I have ever seen. Do these guys have some sort of stake in this very uncommon product?

Frankly their results pretty much reflect my experiences where they do cross. I always thought Eset had great AV, but their recent FW entry didn't thrill me, and much prefered Outpost Firewall Pro, then I switched to Outpost Security Suite, which I'm currently using in a more updated release than the one they tested which is Win 7 friendly, albeit Win 7 support is labeled as "beta". I had a false positive a few days back, but the latest update appears to have corrected that.

I'll have to try and dig them up. Spent a couple of weekends searching and reading a bunch of stuff. Didn't really save any links though...

The one thing with the firewall (the shared folder stuff posted earlier) is annoying me enough to try something else for firewall. ESET said that my user name and password would work for just the anti virus as well, so I might install and run that and try a different firewall until they can get it working properly with Windows 7.

I was thinking of an ESET Nod32 - Comodo Firewall combination. Don't really want to put out more money for a firewall since I paid for the full Smart Security from ESET already. Anyone have any thoughts on that combo?

I've been using NOD32 for a very long time and can't see myself changing to any other AV software. In fact, I just started a new job and will be installing it at work today

Well, I have officially given up on Smart Security and Windows 7. Tired of screwing around with shared folders. They should just be available and ESET seems unwilling to work with me to fix the issue. Not sure why they would not be interested in doing so though.

I was told that the same user name and password would work with just Nod32, so I uninstalled Smart Security, installed my paid for Nod32 and the free Comodo Firewall.

Shared folders there and present. No issues whatsoever.

Guess we'll see how this goes.

So in Windows 7, with more than one system on a LAN, you have had no problems accessing a shared folder?

Because I'm not the only one, even in THIS thread. Read the thread.

And ESET is not willing to even work with me to solve it.

Which sucks because as you can see with the creation of this thread, I was more than willing to pimp out their software, and they couldn't be bothered to work with me, even after I bought two licenses, other than to say, "Sorry, Windows 7 is not supported...now go away".

Nod32 (their anti virus) seems rock solid. Firewall? Not so much...not even close.
