Yes you can run games from your second hard drive. Just simply install them on there.

I used to run a 50GB SSD, and a 1TB second HDD. I ran my OS, drivers, and all windows updates on the SSD. Installed ALL of my other programs, and games and such onto the TB second HDD.

As mentioned - yep.

When it comes to installing games, simply select the custom option to change the default install location.

And if you use steam, you can set it up to install to the secondary drive.

No, in order to move the games, you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall them. Once you do, the same shortcuts will be used to play the games. You don't need to go into the games directories to play them.

Well if he is wanting to play from the other saves, he can install the games onto the secondary drive after finding and copying the game saves from the previous installation.
So find the game saves copy them, un-install the games, re-install, then paste the game saves into the same folder as before :D that way your registry is just fine, and your computer doesnt think you have a game/program still installed on the other HDD/SSD (instead of copy/paste the whole game dir)

No, in order to move the games, you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall them. Once you do, the same shortcuts will be used to play the games. You don't need to go into the games directories to play them.

Depends on the game. A lot you can just 'move them' to a new location and they'll 'pick up where you left off'. (You will need to maintain the directory structure though

ie if it was C:\program Files (x86)\Game the new location must be the same:

D:\program Files (x86)\Game

If the settings/save games are in the users directory, the game will find them.

As for the shortcuts, you can simply edit the target field of existing shortcut or create a new one to the .exe new location.

However this method it will render any add/remove programs links useless come un-installation time.

Some games however, will need to be uninstalled/re-installed in order to work properly.

The longer/cleaner method is to uninstall/reinstall all games - but as mentioned it is okay to cut and paste

If you are using steam just copy the steam.exe and steam apps folder to the other drive, then start steam. It will reinstall to the new location itself and obviously make the registry changes as it updates. Takes about 5 or 10 minutes.
