update your photo viewer

Ugh, that could've - quite easily - been the worst advice, like, EVER!..;) :) "Updating" the Windows Photo Viewer, by downloading a different software.. Doesn't really make sense; & besides:

ive saved pics off this site many times before and never had any problems [..]

.. Was it, just, a borked JPEG; or an actual Windows problem? In any case, the default Windows photo viewer should have no trouble reading .JPG files.

Perhaps a better answer might've been, to try some of the -other- image viewers (many which are freeware and/or shareware); for example:

Code:
http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-search.php?p_sortby=1&p_category=0&p_picks=1&p_license=1&p_lastupdate=0&search_term=image+viewer

P.S.
I've gotten here, through the Google query, 4: "windows photo viewer update".

Edit: Teh current thread view count is @ 39,788 which may be something 2 consider. =)

If you're in a browser, you shouldn't have to pass by any other software to save a picture.

If in Chrome, Right-click the image, then select Save Image as...
In IE, Right-click the image, then select Save Picture as...

You can then go to the downloads folder, and click on the file to open it with the associated viewer.

I doubt the Photo Viewer needs any update, as Nostromov said already, it's perfectly capable of opening any JPEG file as is. Since it is included with Windows, you update it via Windows Update. Trying to find an update via google might lead you to installing fakes (malware) so I do not recommend it.

Do you have this problem only on this specific site ? Have you tried saving a picture on any other page ?
Are you sure the format is JPEG ? Not all pictures are saved in this format and it's possible your site now uses something else.
