How to make a RAM drive in Win7 64?

In all my years of tweaking now i still have never made a RAM drive(the fact that i never had enough spare RAM to do so) I have now had 8GB for awhile now and pretty much 4GB of it is never in use. I would like to make a RAM drive for firefox and try that out.

Any help appreciated!

Well, the old ramdrive.sys is gone, so nothing native. I just downloaded this today. There are others, more expensive.

"jaclaz" has provided many people, on various forums, with excellent help when in dire situations,
but gets disturbed when noobs don't RTFM (can't blame him here)...

I like to create a B:\ 1440K floppy, and format it, when playing around with the original "F83 for IBM PC" (Laxen and Perry)...
I run mostly XP Pro, but I think it ran OK under Win7 32-bit...
Dunno about x64.

The install package works on Windows NT 3.51/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Special note for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
On Vista and Server 2008 you need to either turn off UAC, User Access Control, or setup the driver to auto-load on system startup..

this is a nice little tutorial i came by yesterday as i was doing some research before i installed my SSD.

by the way it's FREEEEE!

also it is compatible with all versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista (x86 and x64), Windows XP (x86 and x64), all editions of Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64), all editions of Windows server 2008 (x86 and x64).

I tried this day before yesterday, I was disappointed with the results and so decided to uninstall it --- which began my problem. I tried to download and install Google Chrome since then and what I get is an error message that it cant download from R:\Temp ... Please how can I fix this? I just want to go back to the way it was before 'RamDisk'.
I have a Gateway FX6831-03

Which browser are you using? In the browser options, change the location of the temp internet files back to the default location.

64 bit drivers are now digitally signed with a certificate trusted by Microsoft.
This means that ImDisk now works Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 even without running it testsigning mode.

I am wondering if I could install both Dataram RAMDisk and ImDisk Virtual Disk Driver on the same operating system. Any conflicts?

There is one thing I don't understand though.

1) If I am using a RAMDisk for my internet cache, and if I load the disk image on startup and I save the disk on shutdown, what would my internet cache setting in the browser should be? I mean, should I set up Firefox to clear its internet cache when I close Firefox like I do now or not?

2) And if I do set up Firefox to clear its internet cache when I close Firefox, what happens to the RAMDisk image that I save on shutdown? I mean, since Firefox clears its cache when it closes and that happens before shutdown, then when RAMDisk saves the image on shutdown, what then is there to save if the cache has already been cleared?

3) What about the junk cleaners that most of us use, like CCleaner and such. Should I set them up to clear the internet cache once a week like I do now or not?

Ok, so not tried this yet myself but if you have RAMDISK driver there should be no problem installing it on W7 and using it, according to MS:

You HAVE to backup the ramdrive before rebooting, because ram is volitle memory.
