Graphics card and power supply

Right I have a 550ti but only a 300w power supply. My performance is shocking on it.
Is this cause my power supply?
It's recommended to have a 400w +
Also my processor is only at like 70-80% use

You need to upgrade your Power Supply ASAP. You are putting a strain on that low-end one.

What does that mean then?

What it means is that if/when the 300W power supply decides to up and die from the strain, it doesn't take anything else with it. Underpowered (or even worse, under powered no name) power supplies have been known to take out motherboards, video cards and just about anything else connected to the motherboard when they go poof.

If possible, I would suggest returning the new one for a good quality 500W+ PSU from the likes of Seasonic, Corsair or XFX. It needs to have at least 24A on the +12v rail (See specs)

Louis your not listing to the good folks that are trying to help you. What happens when you use less than needed quality power supply is many things and none of them good.

Just like everyone said Change your PSU ASAP or else your gonna fry something in your computer hardware eventually. I would suggest you just to take 550ti out until you buy a new PSU and it should be at least 450w from a quality manufacturers like Corsair, Cooler Master, Antec, XFX etc.

hmmm im not sure about if PSU has to do something with bad fps like not providing the accurate power to the GPU but anything could happen..

But let us know about your Complete PC specs and the games you're playing on it.. then i can tell you exactly whats the issue of having bad performance.
